Former Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Chishimba Kambwili was involved in a serious road traffic accident in Luapula province yesterday afternoon.
The road accident happened at Kapena Village in Mwense District.
Dr. Kambwili and his elder brother were traveling for a funeral when their vehicle lost control and overturned several times.
Kambwili was reported to be on his way to Chipempe in Pambashe Constituency in Kawambwa for a family funeral using the Mansa-Mwense road when accident occurred.
The road accident happened at Kapena Village in Mwense District and occurred when his vehicle attempted to evade a cyclist.
He was rushed to Mwense Hospital where he has since been discharged while others who were involved in the road traffic accident are still receiving medical treatment.
This is the second accident that Dr Kambwili has survived in six months.

Hope he had comprehensive insurance. He should consider stop criticizing the leadership. Africa is rough if one finds themselves continously criticizing the governing bunch.
I saw this on Facebook shockingly people were on concerned about Kambwiliz well being and not the dead poor man. No one thought of the poor children ? And wife he left behind.
Problem in Zambia ?? these law makers think they own everything and they speed like crazy. This is purely overspending.
Why is UPND trying to kill an innocent man.
UPND are a disgrace
Thanks

We still have people with personalized number plates, i thought RATSA had plans of banning that, i need to consult RATSA over this.
English is my second language so I rewrite
I saw this on Facebook shockingly people were only concerned about Kambwiliz well being and not the dead poor man. No one thought of the poor children ? And wife he left behind.
Problem in Zambia ?? these law makers think they own everything and they speed like crazy. This is purely overspeeding.
UPND killed the police officer this week, they burned government buildings and now they want to kill Kambwili.
Kambwili has grown to Know what evil looks like,,, that’s why ka lungu wants him dead
Gravel road Not good for thes light vehicles. Keep speed at 80kmh anything above is Not safe
Just wondering why the ldiot was in such a hurry. Why not start the trip early to avoid excessive speeding?? Thank God you got away with your life.
LT why has it been taking longer than normal to log on your site on all browsers? Are we being routed to State House and ZICTA first? Sort out
If you have nothing good to talk about someone’s life please keep silent.what if it was you loved one.mulefumya utusanga my menso yenu, before critiquing.
Iyo mulaponta ba muntu. Your comments awe mwandi
Now that he doesn’t ha e driver he needs to learn how to drive. He speeds a lot.
Tamumfwa. You Zambians drive like crazy. You are always over-speeding in those vehicles which fail roadworthiness tests but due to corruption still get a ‘Fitness certificate.’ Biggie Nkumbula died in a car accident because his car was not well maintained. You are negligent and then when things happen, ati ‘they want to kill me.’ Who do you think you are? Zambia is bigger than you. Just drive safely.
Anyway, mwapusuken ba Kambwili.
Biggie Nkumbula or Baldwin Nkumbula?
“The road accident happened at Kapena Village in Mwense District and occurred when his vehicle attempted to evade a cyclist”.
SO, THE LEADERSHIP HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCIDENT. NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER!!!!
Opposition you are warned! The Eliminator Government is working very hard.
@Suntwe wa Suntwe (1.8) ulichipuba sana.. Matako yobe! Who told you he was overspeeding? Tawaenshapo na motoka buso bobe iwe.. Uleikala fye waumfwa Idi0t!!!!
To bad, our roads are very bad. I don’t if we have highway engineers in Zambia. Thank God he has surved the again. This has nothing to do with anyone it’s not Upnd or PF it’s just our roads are in the bad shape.
It shows that he is a bad driver. Probably he loves talking while driving and does not pay attention to road conditions.
Is it the state of the roads or maybe Kambwili is a very fast driver?
Kambwili’s licence needs to be suspended
Let’s not politicise anything, accidents will always be there en they can happen to anyone at anytime. Sad a life has been lost en we thank God for saving CK en others.
I like your post. People should stop politicizing incidents and accidents, including all sporadic cases of fire. What we need are investigation reports to bring out the root causes and corrective actions! People need to get the truth. Where information is lacking, people will always jump to wrong conclusions! Our various investigative wings need to do a lot on this. Do appropriate investigations and inform the public on root causes. Our culture of not always digging for the truth is not a safe one. We have had so many incidents without any information as to what caused the problem and how we can prevent similar occurrences in future!
May the good Load protect him to shame his enemies
Load?
This is a treasonous attempt on Kambwili’s life by the PF regime after they fired him.Lungu is becoming another Vladimir Putin in eliminating his critics.
He should quit driving if he’s to avoid the tombstone. An impatient character and a powerful vehicle make a deadly cocktail.
It’s his fault he was cruising even though he saw other road users. Let’s be passionate and give respect to other road users. Just because we drive huge cars doesn’t mean we have more right to use the roads than others. Let’s give courteous to others!
This This is the second attempt on his life by pf this year. Uchenjele kambwili
How is this headline news?
He needs to plead for forgiveness for akakunkubiti.
boss is a careless driver mwe
boss is a careless driver mwe.. so they cyclist was planted by politicians?
I also once nearly rolled with in trying to avoid a cyclist but I managed to avoid him and also save myself and my two passengers. Many people including my favourite donkeys have experienced this too, some fatal and others almost. So what do you say donkeys?
This is clearly over-speeding…let BUUFOON retake his DRIVER’S TEST!
He must be a careless driver. If he knows that some people are following him he cant for once be careful.
He must return what he has stolen from poor zambians. These are warnings of worse things to come. There are only two things that happen when you take that which is not yours! ITS EITHER THE MONEY FINISHES MYSTERIOUSLY OR YOU DIE! If this man is not willing to return the loot one of the two things will soon happen to him.
Lungu should also beware that all these sinful schemes he is onchestrating trying to eliminate the lives of opponents against their wishes will one day come back to visit him. As for Kambwili, you made so much vernomous tribalistic noise my friend thinking that you were the cleverest. Now you see, you are in “mwamoneni nomba”. A last piece of advise for Lungu, I hear you plan on imposing a state of emergency, well, Kaunda made us live under one for 27 years but that did not stop the likes of Miyanda, General Kabwe, Shamwana, Sikatana, Mwamba Luchembe etc from trying to shoot off his stinking Malawan a.s.s. where it never shines. The same happened to Chiluba who eventually died of an overdose of “mtototo” in a quest to steer up his sorry depressed life.
Too many assumptions.
Ku Luapula too much ubuloshi! And besides, Kambwili was definately overcruising. Now that traffic offences are treasonous in Zambia, is the DPP going to hang treason around Kambwili’s gorilla size neck?
If you don’t have good to say about some body better be quiet.
People should stop politicizing incidents and accidents, including all sporadic cases of fire. Finger pointing without facts is dangerous! It is not different from the careless act of charging someone with a grievious offences and then when the courts ask you to explain the charge, you start fishing for facts. We have had so many incidents without any information as to what caused the problem and how we…
Typical of Nez
We have had so many incidents without any information as to what caused the problem and how we can prevent similar occurrences in future!
God why did you save the life of that hegoat kambwili? Why is it that good people die and yet evil people thrive in this world?
Kambwili has stolen money for poor people and he is one of the people stealing copper and many other precious minerals in zambia.
The news reporters in zambia are are also dull. Nothing has even been written about him concerning the plots and those mansions he has been building in the stolen government land. It’s really sad what goes on in zambia.
The fake oppositions parties in zambia also hopes to go to jail for doing wrong things instead of confronting real issues that people can see. We want opposition that would expose the corruption by those in public offices.
BA LT WHO LOST CONTROL? WAS IT THE CAR OR THE DRIVER?
Very unfortunate thankfully he is well and I wish the others who were injured a quick recovery.
Mushota you are the one causing the accident.
@THE X FACTOR, Spot on. In Zambia we are fond of rushing to conclusions before conclusive investigations are done. So we don’t learn from incidences and accidents. One reason development tarries.
So did the cyclist die? If he did that is more of a concern! No need to politicise this. Drivers regardless of who they are should learn NOT TO OVERSPEED!
one died the other still sick.
Ba RTSA What are you doing in educating most of those Cyclist who usually ride there bicycles in the same direction motorist are going. I thought Cyclist should always ride in an opposite direction. In town and villages you will see that if a motorist is going on the left lane a cyclist will also be on the left side of the road instead of being on the other side of the road facing on coming traffic. So please traffic officers start charging cyclists who contraven traffic rules do not only eye motorists.
It was just an accident. It can happen to anyone of us. Lets not politicize it. The problem is that people like over speeding especially with latest vehicles.
CK, Mwapusukeni mwebakulu besu. God be with you.
@ Observer, you got it wrong. Cyclists are supposed to cycle on the left side. Pedestrians on the the right side. RTSA indeed you have work to do. Start with educating people like ‘Observer’.
Thanks Jay [email protected] for bringing that up because I am facing the same problem. At first I thought my Dell Laptop had a virus and switched to Apple MacBook Air, the problem is still there, slowness. Other sites are just fine.
Me too
MUSHOTA MATOLE YOBE
NON OF YOU IS SORRY ABOUT THE POOR MAN WHO DIED WHO WAS CROSSING THE ROAD. ANYWAY KNOWING KAMBWILI, HE IS A VERY L COMPASSIONATE MAN. HE WILL COMPENSATE THEM
That’s two lives gone seven to go for this cat
Cat with nine lives! Used up 2, need to protect 7 left. Slow down and take care sir.
It shall be well CK. Bachepa sana
The OP needs to learn that these new cars are quite safe.
Balefwaya ukukupwilikishisha ba PF boyi.
“Road traffic accident” and not “The road accident!”
