Napsa end their Zesco woes, Mighty’s misery continues

Zesco United suffered their first league defeat of the 2017 season after losing 1-0 away at Napsa Stars at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The match also broke records in that Napsa beat Zesco for the first time in the league since the home side were promoted in 2012.

Zesco’s record now stands at seven wins, three draws and now one defeat.

Furthermore the result saw Zesco coach Zlatko Krmpotic suffer his first competitive defeat in charge since his appointment in February.

Collins Sikombe’s 14th minute striker ended Napsa’s winless league drought against Zesco.

Zesco continue to lead the log despite the defeat for at least 24 hours before Lumwana Radiants hosts Konkola Blades on Sunday.

Lumwana are 2nd tied on 10 points with Zesco.

In the lunchtime kickoff at Heroes, Nkana were beaten 3-2 away by Green Buffaloes to end their two-match revival patch that had seen them pick up a 2-0 away win over Napsa and 2-2 home draw with Zesco.

Brian Mwila gave Buffaloes the lead in 45th minute to see them take a 1-0 halftime lead.

Nkana striker Walter Bwalya capped his return from his three-match ban with the equaliser from a 76th minute free kick.

But Buffaloes restored their lead in the 85 minute through Adrian Chama before Ronald Kampamba leveled in the 88th minute.

Happy Kaunda gave Buffaloes the joy they were looking for in stoppage time with the winner to end their three match winless run.

Meanwhile, there was a big kill up on the Zambia-Tanzania border where new boys Real Nakonde stunned sick man Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-0.

Danny Silawve and Kabeya Mulume handed Mighty their fifth straight loss to see the rooted at the bottomin 20th place.

In Kitwe, Power Dynamos squandered their lead twice to finish 2-2 at home against 10-man Forest Rangers.

Kelvin Mubanga put Power ahead in the 45th minute, Patrick ilongo equalised in the 65th minute before his team mate Logic Chingandu was sent off for a second yellow in the 71st minute.

Julius Situmebko scored what was seemingly the winner in the 81st minute ut Nawa Nawa stole a point for forest in the 85th minute.

  2. Eh Napsa beating Zesco???? Ma! These Napsa stars are hot! Gone are the days of the super 5 – Nkana, Muf Wanderers, Roan Utd. Kabwe Warriors and Green Bufs, we have new teams. Roan is dead because the Chinese investors have failed to support that team so sad.

  3. I will not hesitate to travel to Lumwana and see how my former sharp Blades are going to be walloped but a draw will make me happy .
