Fashion Sakala is a relieved man after thinking he was going to go without a goal in Zambia’s win over Portugal at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.

Sakala scored Zambia’s second and final in the 76th minute in a 2-1 Group C opening win over the two-time World champions in Jeju.

“People expect a lot from me,” Sakala told FIFA.com.

“Each and every person in Zambia is talking about me, so I was worried when I didn’t score in the first half. Maybe my people are complaining about me.”

Expectations were high on Sakala who scored three goals at the 2017 U20 AFCON that Zambia won in March.

This is follows his strike partner Patson Daka’s departure in the 41st minute after sustaining a facial injury.

And Sakala goal came after Edward Chilufya had put Zambia ahead in the 51st minute.

Zambia lead Group C on 3 points, level with Iran who beat Costa Rica 1-0 in the second kickoff in Jeju.

Iran and Zambia clash on Wednesday in their penultimate Group C match with the winner in that match qualifying to the last 16 of the tournament that South Korea is hosting from May 20 to June 11.

  2. guys sure….. why do Zambians have this deadly Pull Him Down mentality….. He scored an important goal for Zambia at the world cup…. all we can do is thank him for his great effort. Wht does it matter with u if his over age o not….its FIFA duty to determine if he can play or nt… and if they say he can play then lets be happy for him. this mentality of always looking for an excuse pull our friends down is why we dont develop… The guy is there to not only represent himself but the whole of Zambia… so lets give him our support.

  9. Ati Anyoko! Your comments have backfired in your face. Let’s forgive him, maybe he was just joking or not serious like mushota in the so called UK.

  10. Well Done, May the God Lord bless you with more strength and Speed to win the cup. You officially rock my world of SOCCER. Hope the Senior Chipolopolo are busy learning something from you guys. However, please always remember, never to be proud and reluctant , soccer is a profession so keep it as such. Its not about being a celebrity, beer and changing women like clothes. So please don’t follow wrong examples… You have made the nation, your families and yours selves proud. Keep it up.

  11. Fashion Sakala is at-least helping to put Zambia on the world map.ANYOKO on the contrary has shown us his devilish heart towards people on success lane. Its a pity jealous is consuming him.

  12. GO ZAMBIA GO FASHION SAKALA, MAY THE LORD GIVE U AND OUR COLLEAGUES MORE STRENGTH TO SCORE MORE GOALS AND MAKE MOTHER ZAMBIA PROUD.

  13. A more clinical team could have easily scored 5 goals against Zambia in that game. The weak link are the fullbacks. If they don’t make adjustments at the back, Zambia will be exposed.

  14. Comment:Hi, I just want to plead with all who post comments. Let’s disist from this EVIL CULTURE of INSULTS. Is it not possible to contribute without insulting someone? This culture is very strange to Zambia lets walk away from it.
