Mosi lager gets a thundering rebrand

Zambian Breweries staff and guests celebrate the rebranding of Mosi Lager, including Country Director Annabelle Degroot and Head of Marketing Nomonde Dona.

Zambia’s iconic Mosi Lager has undergone a rebrand to bring its packaging up-to-date.
Despite the new look, the Mosi beer remains untouched and is the same premium quality lager brewed in Zambia since the early 70s, says Zambian Breweries – the company that makes the world-renowned beer.
The market-leading beer is named after Livingstone’s famous waterfall: Mosi-oa-Tunya – which means The Smoke that Thunder – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, also known as Victoria Falls.
The new Mosi packaging was unveiled to consumers during the Mosi Day of Thunder in Livingstone on April 29, 2017. Revellers and consumers were happy and excited with the new branding of the Mosi bottle.
Celebrities, socialites and VIPs, including Ministry of Tourism and Arts Acting Permanent Secretary Zechariah Luhanga, joined Zambian Breweries representatives against this week at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka for the official launch the new packaging. Chef 1987, Jay Rox and Angela Nyirenda provided the entertainment.
Mosi is designed to reinforce the lager’s connections with Falls and its heritage as a Truly Zambian brand, said Zambian Breweries country director Annabelle Degroot
“We rebranded the bottle, but it is only the bottle appearance that has changed. The content is and will always remain our thunderously refreshing premium lager. It is the same beer that thunders,” she said.
“We have maintained our heritage. We have kept in mind that the people know Mosi as the beer that thunders and we aim to keep it that way – thundering. If anyone has tasted Mosi in the new branded bottle, they will say it is the same beer; only the bottle appearance is new. It is Thunderously Refreshing beer they have always known and loved,” added Mrs Degroot.
The rebranding was motivated by the fact that Zambian Breweries had not changed the packaging of Mosi in a long time and brewery thought this is an opportune time to do so and modernise it.
“Those who attended this year’s Mosi Day of Thunder on April 29, 2017 in Livingstone must have seen how excited the people were with the new Mosi bottle,” she said. Mosi Lager is Zambia’s leading beer produced by Zambian Breweries and is named after the indigenous name for Victoria Falls, Mosi Oa Tunya which is Tokaleya Tonga literally meaning The Smoke That Thunders.

    • Alcohol is Alcohol and half of Zambians are addicts. While you are rebranding this poison, create facilities for detoxing as well. Breweries are widow makers! God will judge you and all you celebrants of evil!

    • DRINKING OF ALL ALCOHOL DEFILES THE BODY 100% AND THE MIND 200%.
I AM SPEAKING FROM A REGRETTABLE EXPERIENCE
AND ZAMBIANS DRINK TO GET DRUNK
      UNFORTUNATELY

    • @ NUBIAN PRINCESS
NOT ONLY DO I LIKE YOUR POLITICS, I ALSO LIKE YOUR MORALS!!
      BE BLESSED

  1. The Govt Full Of Drunkards, They Are Supporting Industries That Manufacture Toxic Substances In The Country. Zambians Be Carefull, These People Are Killing Us Slowly.
We Want Coca Cola Company To Come Back, Not These Types Of Factories Just Because They Name Their Beverages After Victoria Falls Ati They Are Promoting Tourism???
    Laughable!

  2. Ba Mulenga ichalo lifupa, you are here and you will leave this world. Don’t be obsessed nama politics if you find it hard to live in Zambia surely you can relocate to DR Congo, Libya, South Sudan, Iraqi etc. Pf

  3. Pf is new but your problems are decades old. What have you been doing to sort out your failures? I don’t believe that grz is there to sort out your basic problems like ifya bunga na malasha. Pa zed too many armchair critics always condemning government kwati pali efyo mwabomba imwee?

  4. Correction LT, Mosi Oa Tunya is actually lozi not toka leya. Dont steal the credit from my language.

  5. I am sure it’s meant to be ‘Musi oa Tunya’ not ‘Mosi’, as far as I know. Unless it’s not Lozi. ‘Smoke’ is ‘Musi’, not ‘Mosi’ in Lozi. Why has this never been corrected over the years? Someone enlighten me.

  6. I need a Mosi pipeline to my pad…..either on prepaid or post paid terms. Pleas get Chinese loan for this viable project. Kalubales can apply for kachusu lines drink themselves to extinction….
