Sports Zanaco beat Cotosport to take command of Group D

Zanaco on Saturday shot to the top of Group D in the 2017 CAF Champions League.

Zanaco beat Cotonsport of Cameroon 2-1 at home in Lusaka to take the overnight lead in Group D.

Sakala put Zanaco ahead in the 9th minute when he headed in Richard Kasonde’s cross.

But Cotonsport equalised in the 24th minute through Moussa Souleymanou to see the tide turn against Zanaco after dominating the early stages of the match.

Zanaco snatched the 3 points in the 85th minute when Kitumbo headed in Sakalas corner to send the hosts up to7 points.

Zanaco have 7 points,three more than Al Ahly who host 3rd placed Moroccans Wydad Casablanca in Alexandria on Sunday.

Wydad have 3 points while Cotonsport are last on zero points after three Group D matches played.

Meanwhile, Zesco United host CRD Libolo on Sunday in a Group C 2017 CAF Confederation Cup match in Ndola hoping to rebound from their first pool stage defeat at Al Hilal Obied who beat them 1-0 in Sudan on May 24.
