The Zambia Police Service says it have received the death of its Police officer; Sergeant Ludovic Bwalya aged 32 of Ben Mwiinga Police Post who was murdered in the early hours of yesterday with deep shock and grief.

Zambia Police Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja says what makes the situation more disturbing is the fact that the officer was returning home and was in uniform at the time he met his death after being on duty the whole night protecting people’s lives and property.

“ As Zambia Police Command, we have received the death of our Police officer; Sergeant Ludovic Bwalya aged 32 of Ben Mwiinga Police Post who was murdered in the early hours of yesterday with deep shock and grief, “ he said.

He as ZPS it shall not rest until all those behind this atrocious crime are brought to book.

Police officers have a duty of protecting members of the public therefore, for one to be killed in such a heartless manner is something that is incomprehensible and unthinkable, he said.

ZANIS reports that the Inspector General said this in a statement received in Lusaka this evening .

He said he since directed Lusaka Province Police Command to deploy officers among them the Crack Squad team to Mtendere Compound and surrounding areas in our bid to intensify our patrols as well as bring the criminals behind this death to book.

“ I therefore urge members of the public in these areas to cooperate with the officers and not feel intimidated by their presence as they will be there to protect and not to harass them. Our word to the criminals is that soon you will be answerable for your evil deeds and that as police we shall not watch people live in fear as a result of your criminal acts, “ he said.

Unknown people in the early hours of today allegedly murdered Officer Bwalya for unknown reasons as he knocked from duty at Ben Mwiinga police post a development that has brought fear in surrounding townships.

  1. Let PFolice cadre~Kanganja to avenge his own failed peace keeping for we care less.

Everyone else knows that it is PF bandits who brought anarchism in the country & now have started targeting the PFolice.

PF bandits, Kanganja is coming for your throats!

    • The police force should be channeling their effort elsewhere in areas that need addressing.

As terrible as it is this officer mer his death, he is no more different than the security officer killed and or any other ordinary citizen killed.

      All lives are equal

      Thanks

    • Rwandese in danger as Zambia signs extradition treaty with Rwanda
Edgar Lungu and Rwandan president Paul Kagame have signed an extradition treaty between Zambia and Rwanda.

The treaty will allow Zambia to hand over Rwandese asylum seekers based in Zambia back to their country to face trial once requested by the government of Rwanda.

A number of Rwandese who fled their country for fear of being killed by Kagame in 1994 were granted asylum in Zambia by successive governments.

But Lungu, known for treachery and corruption has agreed to handover the asylum seekers to Kagame for possible killing.

Other agreements that have been signed include an agreement on defence and security cooperation and one on air services.

A number of Rwandese asylum seekers have refused to go back to Rwanda and opted to stay in Zambia at the end of their refugee status for fear of being killed if they go back.

    • Why avenge the death of a copper you moron! Measures and efforts should have already been putin place to protect all citizens regardless of their tribes, faith; colour or political affiliations.

Kanganja, you are “Too late a hero”.

    • @Mushota, just highlight some of these areas that need addressing, just in case they are blind and thus can’t see them. Otherwise, I agree with you on this one

  2. For once Mushota has said something sensible that All lives are equal; police should avenge the killer of Mapenzi and the ZAF officer

    • Lungu’s hands are dripping with the blood of Mapenzi and Choongwa. Lungu is a mass murderer, just like his friends Kagame, Museveni and Mugabe.

  3. Can you be proud of that type of a building substandard shame on you 53 years you are still building that type of building

  4. how about the bus driver who was shot in kamwala, steve b, ZAF officer, Mapenzi? a life has been lost and that is sad but kindly show the same zeal when dealing with all cases.

  5. Yes police should treat all live equal. For the first time Mushota you wrote some sense.
The IG can not burst into anger like that because a police officer lost hi life in a brutal way. Yes it is sad but Zambia will appreciate him if he burst like that at all murder cases.

  6. ONE THING MR IG.AS THE NATURE OF YOUR JOB CALLS FOR LIFE SAVING,DO AWAY WITH THE CULTURE OF ONLY INTENSIFYING PATROLS WITHIN THE CITY WHEN A DEATH OCCURS.YES I KNOW THAT WE ARE AFRICANS AND THE FACT THAT WE ARE BEHIND IN EVERYTHING,LET US STRIVE TO IMMITATE WESTERN COUNTRIES WHO PATROL ALL THE TIME.YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT INTENSIFY SECURITY SPECIALLY IN THE NIGHT.POLICE SHOULD WORK.AS A TAX PAYER I FEEL THAT POLICE ARE NOT HELPING ENOUGH.

    • Agreed, Police are like robots they don’t induce their own initiatives. Like most of us Africans we tend to be more reactionary than being more proactive that is why we pile up more and more problems in our homes and communities.

  7. And what has that picture of Serenje got to do with the Story? What kind of reporting is this? Chela’s story has Michael Sata’s image. Where do our Journalists go to School? Is this what Evelyn Hone teaches? And the English! Eish. Ati THE POLICE SERVICE SAYS IT HAVE LEARNED. Mwe bantu sure.

  8. VERY UNPROFFESIONAL THINKING BWANA I.G. EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS NOT ONLY A POLICE LIFE. HERE LET ME HELP YOU WITH YOUR INVESTIGATIONS FIRST OF ALL CHECK THE BULLET AND FIND OUT WHAT CALIBRE IT WAS FROM. SECONDLY TRACE THE STEPS OF THE OFFICER THE NIGHT HE WAS KILLED. ACCORDING TO THE STORY HE TOOK OFF TO GO TO SOME CHURCH. DID HE GO TO THE CHURCH? DID ANYONE MEET HIM SOMEWHERE AND CAN SAY WHERE HE WAS GOING OR DOING. AFTER THAT WE THE PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE FINDINGS OF THE Z.A.F. OFFICER THAT WAS KILLED UNDER YOUR CARE.

  9. VERY TRUE KUBWEKA.
WE REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHO KILLED THE ZAF OFFICER.THE KILLING OF THE ZAF OFFICER SHOULD NOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE BRIDGE.
IF THAT HAPPENS WE THE CITIZENS WILL MOURN TOGETHER WITH THE POLICE.
EVERY DEATH OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY MEN AND WOMEN PAINS US. SO LET US TREAT THESE DEATHS EQUALLY.MR IG PEOPLE WILL RESPECT AND HONOUR YOU IF YOU REMAIN NEUTRAL IN YOU PROFFESSIONAL AS A POLICE OFFICER.FUME AT ALL DEATHS OF OUR DAER SIS BROS.

  10. Every life is precious in the eyes of GOD. The life of Bwalya’s child and wife shall never be the same.
The life of every person is sacred. It is not good to belittle other people ‘s life, even your enemy’s. Imagine if HH dies in the hands of the police or in prisons. Assuming that HH lost his children or wife when the police raided his home, I wonder what Kanganja could have said. Probably , Police could have said HH insulted them as they said in court hence causing danger to his family… Father Bwalya justify police actions because HH hid in a bunker.
Equally , the President’s life is equally important as HH’s children. I am told HH son(17 year) had his private parts stepped on by police who raided HH’s home. I don’t know if the boy will function and have children like the…

  11. Equally , the President’s life is equally important as HH’s children. I am told HH son(17 year) had his private parts stepped on by police who raided HH’s home. I don’t know if the boy will function and have children like the police officers who brutalized him.
What is evil to Kanganja is also evil to HH, Lungu, ZAF officer.
Zambians let us hate evil and never support evil doers. Every life must be treated special and loved as JESUS loves us.
LOVE IS CARDINAL and brutalizing every person must stop NOW>>>>>>

  12. Our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased on the senseless murder of Sergeant Ludovic Bwalya in cold blood. Our police service has a lot of decent men and women in uniform but have been let down by the incompetence at the Police Command. Modern policing is very complex and l am afraid it is not the calibre of the Kanganja that can provide effective and decisive leadership at the Police Command. Government must quickly move in and institute immediate measures to improve the crime situation in the country and especially Lusaka. Why should cases of lack of police patrol vehicles be an issue when it is not the case with the provision of ministrial vehicles. The Minister of Home Affairs must be seen to be providing leadership to reduce crime in the country.
