Suspected criminals armed with machetes attacked and killed one of the two  security guards at Winners Chapel Church in Livingstone City in Southern province.

Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the development in a statement  saying that the suspects attacked the two security guards between 23:00 hours on Monday and 01:00 hours before getting away with one Dell Laptop and three cordless microphones valued at K5,000.

Mr. Kapeso in a statement to ZANIS said the two guards were beaten up and sustained multiple cuts on their heads and both were taken to Livingstone Central hospital where they were admitted.

However, Mr. Kapeso said Mr. Kunda died a few minutes after admission and his body was currently in the mortuary awaiting post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.

Police have instituted investigations in the matter.

  1. This is the kind of Zambia Lungu has created; churches being attacked like this; what can one say? Lungu and his PF Police are busy locking up innocent politicians while the police business of protecting citizens have been left unattended to; what a shame;

    • what have thieves got to do with Lungu? in our families we have thieves and they are the same thieves attacking everyone. Mwikala patalala mwine apatalalika.

    • chi color. you simpletons are so annoying who see everything in terms of PF and UPND. Learn to grow up and contribute to issues as a grown up.

    • It has everything to do with Lungu. When resources, both financial, equipment and human, are diverted for political fights it leaves a gap for criminals to operate. Lungu appoints the head of the police and so is responsible for his failures. In Zambia the president can even blaspheme that he is alpha and omega!

  2. Sad that a life has been lost. No need to bring in politics. My prayer is for God to comfort the family and friends of our departed colleague who are feeling this loss at personal level.

  3. SO sad hope police will catch the culprits and dont waste time with tuma NOLLE muma court just hang them until pronounced dead. What was a bemba guard doing in TONGA land and only him died while MR Hamusonde is alive

  4. Every one commenting about Lungu is pathetic to me because i dont see how the president is directly involved in this. Every country has criminals and these things happen. Please grow up

  5. You have criminals who kill others all over the workaday. Some are mentally deranged and some kill for all sorts of reasons. Why does it have to be solely linked to Lungu / HH? Let the police investigate the case and hopefully, if they are competent enough for their job, they will produce the evidence. Let’s stop this nonsense of speculating when a crime is committed.

  6. In Africa human capacity is less than zero on average. People kill for simple electronic gadgets. We ‘re an insult to the human race. Sorry but this is 2017 you do not need to break into someone’s property to get a laptop. Most of our people find it extremely hard to use their brains and energy to earn a living. Mark my words, we will be colonized again because we are so weak and disorganized to compete in favorably in this world. I hate to say it, but Africans are really destructive. Mostly they screw up everything they come in contact with. They have and continue to produce loads of scum children in the name of family and tradition. Visit any country in the west, you will find them loitering in the streets instead of educating themselves. They open make shift shops in other…
