Bruised Zesco seek redemption at Red Arrows

Bruised Zesco United attempt to save their 2017 season when they visit Red Arrows on Tuesday afternoon in a delayed 2017 FAZ Super Division Week 17 game at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The game comes three days after Zesco’s failure to defend the Barclays Cup when Napsa Stars eliminated them 4-2 on post-match penalties following a 0-0 full-time result in the semifinals played at the same venue.

Zesco now return to the venue of their humiliation to redeem themselves and ensure they remain relevant 2017 title contenders.

However, the 2016 runners-up return to league action after collecting just one top-flight win from their last four matches.

Zesco had prior to beating second-from-bottom Real Nakonde 2-0 away in their last league match on September 30, lost two successive matches following 0-0 away draws at leaders Green Buffaloes and 4th placed Power Dynamos.

A win on Tuesday will see Zesco exchange places with Power on 52 and 51 points respectively and place them within four points of Buffaloes.

Zesco are currently 5th on 49 points from 27 matches with three games in hand while hosts Arrows are 11th on 41 points and unbeaten in their last three matches with a draw and two wins.

The five-time champions desperately need to win on Tuesday with another critical away date in Lusaka against 3rd placed Lusaka Dynamos who have 53 points coming up next this weekend.
