All set for Thursday’s 2017 Sportsman Awards

All is set for the revived National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) awards gala to be held on Thursday in Lusaka with Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka and sprinter Sydney Siame targeting the Sportsman of the Year accolade.

Daka and Siame will compete for the Sportsman of the Year Award against boxer Alfred Muwowo.

The trio had a remarkable year in their respective sports disciplines and deserve not only the nomination but the award itself.

Boxer Rorita Muzeya, Shepolopolo star Barbra Banda and runner Kabange Mupopo are fighting for the Sports Woman of the Year award.

The Young Sports Man of the Year award is being competed for by Badminton player Kalombo Mulenga, runner Kennedy Luchembe and another runner Simon Zulu.

Swimmer Tilka Paljik, chess player Lubuuto Bwalya and footballer Barbara Banda are the nominees for the Young Sports Woman of the Year Award.

The Coach of the Year Award is been contested for by football coach Beston Chambeshi, rugby’s Mwamba Chishimba and athletics trainer Douglas Kalembo.

The National 7s Rugby Team, Zambia Under-20 Football Team and Zesco United Football Club are eyeing the 2017 Team of the year Award.

Nominees for the Sports Administrator of the Year Award are Mambo Choya of Mufulira Rugby Club, rugby and Buildcon FC owner Moses Mubanga and the late Kabwe Youth Football Academy proprietor Evans Muntangama.

The Sports Journalist of the Year Award is being competed for by Daily Mail’s Mathews Kabamba, Michael Miyoba of Daily Nation and Times of Zambia’s Sandra Mwila.
