Chieftainess Nkomeshya

A meeting of Chiefs in Lusaka Province chaired by Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II of the Soli people to discuss the draft National land policy reached a deadlock yesterday.

Most Chiefs from Luangwa, Rufunsa, and Chirundu argued that they cannot endorse resolutions from the Nkomeshya chiefdom before studying it and sitting down with their subjects in their own chiefdoms.

ZANIS reports that among the Traditional Leaders that objected to endorse the resolution were Senior Chief Mburuma, Chief Mphuka of Luangwa, Chieftainess Mpanshya, Chieftainess Shikabeta of Rufunsa and Chieftainess Chiyawa of Chirundu.
The five chiefs said the draft National land policy was a critical document which needs time to study and consult the subjects.

And Chieftainess Nkomeshya urged the traditional leaders to carefully study the policy document and consult their subjects so that they can come up with resolutions that will benefit them and Government.

The Chieftainess said development of a National Land Policy is a noble and basic requirement to enhance national development which needs to be transparent, accommodating and participatory so that the final
Product is acceptable to all Zambians. The Chiefs resolved to have the next meeting on May, 16th in Chongwe
District after consulting their subjects and stakeholders.

There is no where , where its says the chiefs refused to endorse Nkomesha’s resolution.

  3. no wonder these guys are arrested for poor reporting! the title gives the impression that there is some form of dispute among the chiefs and yet not!

    • Kambili na kayake, cizungu cimatibvuta ise maZambian. The problem is, we don’t seem to care about the damage that it causes to our country in terms of social and economic development. When your means of communication is inherently faulty you raise your vulnerability quotient by a huge factor.

  4. This is an inciting story ‘…refuse to endorse Nkomeshya’s document’ when it is a GRZ document and Nkomeshya is the one who is urging her fellow Chiefs to study it before signing it. Strange reporting and done deliberately to bring hatred to Nkomeshya.

  5. These Journalists do not know how to report.. .even I who never did journalism knows that you have to give people a background on what you are talking about…what resolution?
Naena uucita give a go-ahead…. .alandanokulanda ati the story can be published….Poor reporting and it’s a trend in Lusaka times…their reporting leaves much to be desired.

  6. This atical is very misleading & not adding up. Can the reporter give us information that is self explanatory and not a story which sound as if it’s a “hear say story. “

  7. MRS NKOMESHYA MKAMAMBO KAUNDA WAS JUST CHAIR OF THE CONSULTATIVE MEETING, INFACT SHE URGED THE SO CALLED CHIEFS TO STUDY AND CONSULT THE SUBJECTS ON THE LAND POLICY , NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS AT ALL. BUT WHEN WILL KAUNDA ANNOUNCE HIS MARRIAGE OFFICIALLY WITH THIS LADY, THE MAN NEEDS A WOMAN TO TAKE CARE OF HIM

  8. Ba Journalist naimwe this is very shallow way of reporting news. What did chiefs refuse to endorse what was the agenda of the meeting who chaired the meeting . If the chiefs who rejected are to study the document then when will they resume for another meeting. Am not one of you but I know that these are the critical things you should report on. Not leaving people guessing

  9. …at chiefteness nkomeshya. There’s a massive chasm between the headline and the actual story. Journalism must set a higher entry and examination standard. Go to Evelyn hone college, you will realize that no one fails journalism courses. The standards are so low that any nincompoop passes every course every term every year.

  10. Unprofessional reporting leaving things hunging, im questioning the competence of the reporter and those of you expressing views on incomplete substance please decist its unethical because you will give inappropriate view!!!!!
