Zambia Under 20 yesterday beat Malawi away in a junior international friendly played in Lilongwe.

Young Chipolopolo is in Malawi on a five-day training camp en route to Rwanda this weekend to play their 2019 U20 AFCON qualifier in Kigali.

Striker Francesco Mwepu scored the game’s lone goal in the 27th minute to continue showing promising signs he displayed during Zambia’s ill-fated campaign as 2017 COSAFA U20 Cup hosts last December.

Zambia will depart Malawi on Wednesday ahead of their May 11 first round first leg date against Rwanda.

The final leg will be played on May 18 in Lusaka with the winner advancing to the final qualifying stage in July to face Sudan or Burundi for a place at next year’s tournament in Niger.

Meanwhile, the Zambia bench has also added two new overseas based players to the team.

They are striker Mwiya Malumo and midfielder Yande Mwandwe of English club’s Wigan Athletic and Shrewsbury Town respectively who are due to join the team for trials next week.

  2. BUT WHY, FOR GOD’S SAKE, USE FAKE NAMES? DON’T THEY WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED AND BE RECOGNISED BY THEIR REAL NAMES? THOSE GREAT PLAYERS IN THE WORLD USE THEIR OWN NAMES.
