Defending champions Zesco United rebounded on Wednesday to beat New Monze Swallows away.

Zesco beat last played and winless Swallows 1-0 in Monze, just four days after they lost 1-0 to leaders Green Buffaloes in Lusaka.

Striker Maybin Kalengo scored the games’ lone goal in his first start to the 2018 season with a 3rd minute goal for the 2017 FAZ Super Division champions.

Zesco have 25 points, two behind Buffaloes from eleven and twelve games played respectively.

Swallows are wallowing at the bottom of the table with just 2 points from twelve matches in their debut FAZ Super Division campaign.

And at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, Nkana stayed winless for a third straight game after Zanaco beat them 1-0.

Defender Taonga Bwembya scored a 7th minute free kick to hand Zanaco their third successive league wins.

Zanaco jumped from 7th to 3rd on 23 points after the away victory while Nkana now occupy their guests former position following the defeat on 20 points.

Nkana have now picked just one point from their last three games.

  1. Sad for Nkana. It seems all the big guys will beat Nkana while they draw or beat small teams and yet their supporters keep saying likulu. Let’s be real and admit that something is seriously wrong at Nkana.

  2. Ba FAZ is to blame! U can not use Chabeshi as National duties while the league is in full swing! Also Nkana management must be serious as u can not allow someone on contract to have another contract. It’s like working as PF secretary general at the same time Goverment Vice President..then u do not know who comes first lol

  3. I am not impressed by these 1-0 wins. We need sharp high scoring strikers in order to do well at international stage. That also is the reason why our clubs don’t do well when we go into Africa.

  5. I agree with you Daniel, its paradoxical to see energetic players like Banda, Zikiru, Silengo and Mwelwa being sidelined for names only. Can you imagine winning with a 1-nil scoreline with a team of Monze Swallows…….although they say, “Mwamuna munzako ni pachulu…….”. An accomplished team like Zesco shouldn’t be fighting so hard to score with such teams. This tells you the level of football remaining at zesco, all that beautiful football these guys played in 2016 is gone, tired legs can’t bring you better results ba coach. Learn to shuffle the legs.
