Government commended for steps taken to revamp economy

Share

Small Scale Farmers Development Agency (SAFADA) has commended government for the proactive steps it is taking to revamp the national economy through the agricultural sector.

SAFADA Director Boyd Moobwe cited the legalization of marijuana plantation as one of the measures that will spur the economic benefits to the country.

Mr. Moobwe in a statement made available to ZANIS today, said although the crop has medicinal properties and can raise enough revenue for the country it is cardinal to consider its impact on the Zambian population.

He explained that government should contract selected commercial farmers and involve parastatal organisations such as Zambia National Service to grow the crop than involving small scale farmers.

Meanwhile, Mr. Moobwe has called on government to further consult other stakeholders on the intentions to introduce new mechanisms in the implementation of the electronic voucher.

He cited new mechanism such as Biometric system whereby farmers will be required to use the thumb as some of the systems that ought to be looked into.

Mr. Moobwe further said SAFADA will next year hold a conference for farmers countrywide as a way of involving small scale farmers in the decision making and planning process.

  1. The working government, doing the best for the nation! Please remain focused! Do not listen to HaTribes trying to derail you! They have special codes! “Corruption” is the same as “Other people, not our people,” “Thief” is Bemba or Others working with them” (of course not GBM) because he is a pawn a decoy being used to desperately wanting to win the North, but I think the North is not as dull as those who vote with bloodline and not their heads and on principle! Do not listen to a tribal organization posing as a party!!

  2. This is the same government that reduced the maize and soya prices last year to destroy the agriculture sector. The same government that has also failed to manage the FISP program and you commend them? I think this moombwe fellow has his head buried in the sand. Someone please help him.

  3. Something good happens, you just have to say thank you. If the Government buys maize at high prices, how can you expect the price of the staple food? Think before you comment. Is it not the same Government that sold the fertilizer and other agricultural inputs on subsidised price? Kkkkkk bane landeni, amubukela, khambani
