Chinsali Member of Parliament (MP) Kalalwe Mukosa says construction of Communication Towers in Kalela village in Chinsali district in Muchinga Province has commenced.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS today when he inspected the works, Mr. Mukosa said he is happy that the construction of the communication towers in the area are progressing well.
Mr. Mukosa said he is optimistic that the contractor, Huawei Technologies will do a remarkable job adding that, the company has exhibited its commitment to duty.
He charged that in a bid to enable the people of Kalela access network coverage in the area, government saw it prudent to construct a communication tower in the village.
The area MP further mentioned that the completion of the communication tower in Kalela village will enhance mobile communication among the local people.

Mr. Mukosa however, raised concerns over the lack of safety clothing among the workers on the construction site stating that the contractors should provide appropriate clothing for the workers immediately.
He also warned the Chinese contractors to desist from mistreating the workers following reports of alleged mistreatment of their workers.
And Huawei Technologies works supervisor for Muchinga Province Joshua Muhone said the communication tower in Kalela area is on schedule.
Mr. Muhone said the casting of concrete process for the tower has commenced adding that, the erecting of towers will begin next week.
He charged that the construction works are at 40 per cent complete and due for completion by the end of June 2018.
Meanwhile, Juliet Sichapula, a resident of Kalela village has applauded government for the construction of the communication tower in her area.
Ms. Sichapula said mobile communication challenges will be reduced in Kalela, lamenting that the people in the area have been hit with lack of communication for a long time.
She further thanked the area MP, Kalalwe Mukosa for his role in spearheading development of communication towers in the village.
Earlier in March this year, Minister of Transport and Communications, Brian Mushimba revealed that a total of 116 communication towers will be built in Muchinga Province.
The Chinese are notorious for abusing local people on construction sites. Botswana has been very strict with Chinese so – called – investors and does not renew permit willy – nilly and does not allow them to engage in work that Batswana can do. Now they are all coming to Zambia because we have been too relaxed. Immigration should be more stringent with issue of permits, allowing only those with skills not available here – wheel burrow pushers should be kept out at all cost.
You forget that the funding for these contracts is via China Exim bank…smart countries dont sign such rubbish
He must be the youngest MP in Parliament was born on 9th June 1984 and highly qualified with full CIMA, Degree in Accountancy and MBA in international Business was just checking his profile on the Parliament of Zambia web. But why is the President struggling to include such in government or maybe he wants him to grow and mature because after this boy qualified he decided to run the family business in Chinsali.
and the business has been doing well since time immemorial
Let’s develop this thing! When 2021 comes Childish and his tribal followers will not have anything to stand on and we will have a cluster of stuff to point at – our work! HaJealosy! HaTribes! HaHates! HaLosers!
Ba MP you are too junior to issue directives to these companies who have signed contracts with big people in Lusaka. It is better you engage those people first and through then you can now make your wishes known.
“….stating that the contractors should provide appropriate clothing for the workers immediately….”
Just imagine if mulungushi textiles was mandated by GRZ to provide all safety clothing used in zambia using Zambian cotton how much contribution to the GDP would be realised….on top of this market we have all GRZ uniforms……including farmers I am sure close to 50, 000 people would be employed by our textile and related industry.
VERY DULL MP , THE PROJECT IS AT 40% AND U ARE CRYING SAFETY CLOTHES, DO U HAVE CONTENTS FOR THE CONTRACT? ALL THOSE DEGREES NI VIKWAKWA ONE CAN READ WHILST LYING ON BED AND PASS, TRIED ENGINEERING???? IAM SURE NON IN UR FAMILY IS A SCIENTIST, CONSULT ENGINEERS BEFORE EXPOSING UR IGNORANCE MP (MTAWARE PERSON)
At least Chimese is abusing maybe six people. Lungu is abusing the all nation even those who are unborn. The kid is in the womb the kid is starving because ba Lungu beleiba pabutala nokukula mansion ku Swaziland. This guy is shetani number 2. He is notoriously nauseating.
Unlike the Chinese South African companies are very strict on safety that you can lose job by disobeying even the smallest safety rule. As for the abuse, much as I agree with the MP, Zambians must also change their work attitude. I witnessed an incident where council laborers were arguing with their supervisor over the unblocking of a drain. These guys had all the gear, tools and personal protection but were giving excuses on why they couldn’t do that job. Such attitude of familiarity is very common among our people. Let’s not pretend.
Chinese people are racist especially against black people, visit China as a black man and you’ll find out for yourself. It’s sad that the government are letting their own citizens get mistreated by foreigners. They should be monitoring these constructions every step of the way carefully rather than act after the fact, how embarrassing. China are trying to take over Africa, be aware
