ZCID should lead the dialogue processes-Apostals Council of Churches

ZCID Meeting with Church leaders

Apostles Council of Churches has written to the Ministry of Guidance and Religious Affairs that the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) lead the national dialogue while the Church participates in the process to give guidance.

Apostles Council of Churches Programs Director Reverend Charles Miji said ZCID should take lead and have the Church inclusive in National Dialogue for the purpose of guidance and reconciliation due to the nature of the process.

“We want to submit that the Zambia Centre for Inter party Dialogue lead the dialogue process and the Church be party of it for the purpose of guidance because of the nature of this process.” Rev. Miji noted.

Meanwhile, the Reverend Miji has expressed displeasure at the conduct the Three Main Church Mother Bodies towards other faith based organisations.

In a letter dated 4th June, 2018, to the Ministry Permanent Secretary, Rev. Miji accused the three Church Mother Bodies of trying to limit the Church to their three Bodies when that is not the meaning of the word “Church”.

“However, we are dismayed that our brother the SG (Secretary General) of the Christian Council of Churches (CCZ) still thinks that when the word “Church” is mentioned to be part of National Dialogue, it is the preserve of Christian Council of Churches, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Madam, you know as much as we do, that the word “Church” means all the followers of Jesus Christ in Zambia. This is the reason why our Zambian society through the office of the Registrar of Societies under the Ministry of Home Affairs registered other Church Mother Bodies,” read the latter in part.

He hoped that the Ministry after its establishment will help promote and enhance inclusiveness in the Zambian Church.

“We are of the view that the establishment of the Ministry of the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs will obviously enhance and promote the spirit of inclusiveness in Zambian Church today so that national programs such as the national dialogue are equitably represented by all such representatives in Zambia,” he said.

  1. Koma imwe ma guys, you are already divided, crying and complaining before the dialogue has even started. How do you hope to guide, advise and reconcile the estranged politicians?

    Ine kudabwa mwe.

    • Ati 20% Catholics.my friend, Catholic rule the world whether you like it or not.so is Zambia. All over the world, you don’t mess up with Catholic. You can be 80% the other side but even 0.001% of Catholic, you will see how the world shakes when the Catholics speak. If you fight the Catholics, as a party in power you are signing your exit from power.

  2. Somehow, he has a point. 73% of church going Zambians are protestant. Shouldn’t they have the majority voice as compared to the 20% catholics??

    • Did you even read what this guy said? Don’t these two organizations “Christian Council of Churches”, and “Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia” represent protestants?

  3. The suggestion is wrong and ill intended. Honestly, how can you allow the Nakachinda ZCID who are pure PF to lead the dialogue? Unless that Apostle Council has an agenda to see dialogue fail. The pastors need to discern things before rushing to the media. They know Nakachinda does not hide his loyalty to PF and president Lungu. He has appeared on different foras and castigated the opposition especially UPND. How do you bring such a compromised person on board to deal with issues of peace when he is chewing the PF money for survival. The council needs to discern and listern to their inner voice. Nakachinda and the team are 100% wrong guys to lead the team.

  4. Where have these Apostles been all along? All key stakeholders have agreed to let the church take the lead on reconciliation talks. The 3 christian mother bodies are sufficient to handle the talks. They represent the majority of the Christians in the country. We don’t need to have every corner shop congregation involved. What is it that they have that those 3 can’t handle? More Confusion isn’t it!!?

  5. This guy must be sponsored by the PF especially Lungu. This matter has been settled that the church lead the process, why bring confusion. Sick man of god ( not God)!
