The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set July 26th 2018 as the date for the Lusaka Mayoral elections.

The elections will be held to vote for a replacement for Mr Wilson Kalumba who died last month.

In a notice, the ECZ also says that elections for six other wards will be held on the same date.

The Commission will also conduct elections for new Council Chairpersons in five other district councils.

“Notice is hereby given to the general public that the Electoral Commission of Zambia
has prescribed Thursday 26th July, 2018 as the date on which to hold the Mayoral
elections in Lusaka and Council Chairpersons’ elections in Chasefu, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lumezi, Lusangazi and Chifunabuli districts,” the notice read.

The Commission will on the same date hold by-elections in Chachacha, Lwambazi, Kangwena, Kanongesha, Kanyama and Looma wards.

The Council Chairpersons’ elections have been necessitated following the declaration of Chasefu, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lumezi, Lusangazi and Chifunabuli as districts by President Lungu.

The By-elections in the six (6) wards have been necessitated by resignations and deaths of Councillors in the named wards.

    • The Mayor is a liability in Lusaka. SCRAP it.

The position is NOT needed if anything. What exactly did the last Mayor do?

      Thanks

    • UPND can win the 2021 elections if they sort things out internally. I would like to think that they would even do better for the Zambians, given the time they have been looking, from the outside, the many mistakes made by CONSECUTIVE governments over the years. HH can stay or be replaced, that is not the issue but they need to democratize themselves more. A convention will be a good start!

    • analyser UPND is damaged goods! PF is only winning because the rest of the parties are more mediocre and PF seems to be better equipped to handle the intro-chaos than the rest! Mayoral positions needs more understanding as it is a directly electable position which must make or break a future presidential candidate (remember France’s Jacques René Chirac or Philippine’s Rodrigo Duterte or even in the USA a former Mayor of Northampton, Mass became President Coolidge, West Berlin’s mayor Willy Brandt, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the current Turkish President, former Tehran mayor Mahmoud Ahmedinejad President of Iran, and former Tulle mayor Francois Holland. To cut a long story short, a mayor must have potential! And not sleep at work like Mushota!

    • Back to back losses for UPND and HH plus Kambwili included kaili Punch for Punch wants to be part of the losing team….Kambwili flying to London just to drink tea…wanyaaaa uzadya oxygen

  1. No its too early UPND is still mourning Wilson Kalumba plus the recent Chilanga loss.Any b!itch with looks of Charmaine Musonda is free to apply.Infact Cleo Ice Queen why not go for it as this is the chance.Just do chi 90 minutes BJ on ba HH like you are smoking shisha and be rest assured that there will be no interview process.

  2. Hazaluza Hagain! I am glad for social media. It has helped people from all walks of life to learn about what is in the hearts of a tribal organization. Make no mistake, the sentiments by HaJJ and his cronies are a true representation of what the people they support think, say and are expected to do when in leadership. I have seen them act the same in my work in Zambia when these tribalists are given top positions. Unless they change and integrate with all peaceful and inclusive Zambians they will be feared by all sane Zambians.

    • Three fingers are pointing at you, where do you get the guts and sleepless nights to promote hate. Shame on you, the Lord is watching. Time is the mother of everything and mind you Zambia is a Christian nation try Syria.

  3. Pf has no leadership.kbf is right.violence, corruption and thugary are order of de day.expect de worst to come. They will loot our resources like konswe mu mpoto.ishi tembeba.

  4. WITH ALL THESE LOSES, HOW DOES HH JUSTIFY HIS STORY OF RIGGED OR STOLEN 2016 ELECTION? VOTERS ARE NOT FOOLS. ALL THESE BY ELECTIONS HAVE BEEN OPPORTUNITIES FOR HH TO PROVE THE CONCOURT OR ECZ WRONG. TO THE CONTRARY, ALL THESE HAVE PROVED THAT HH TRUELY LOST THOSE ELECTIONS. THE MAYORAL ELECTIONS NEXT MONTH WILL ALSO SHOW THE SAME. YOUR LIES WILL FIND YOU OUT.

  5. UPND is led by a privatization thief and tribalist. That is why its followers are tribal queens and tribal kings. They also Hallucinate a lot! They live in dreamland.

  6. Elections every month yet things are decaying as if there’s absolutely no government .Look at Lusaka -the roadside shacks ,the rotting trash ,the chaotic housing ,cholera and few tarred roads.

We’ve gotta ditch politicking 24/7 otherwise it will destroy us Zambians.

  7. UPND will surely lose this seat!!But since HH claimed that he won 2016 general elections,Zambians shall see on 26/07/2018 if indeed HH won in 2016!!!THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE AND WORSE FOR HH’S UPND!!!
APA NAISE TU VOTER IN MUNALI BABA FOR PF!!!
    GO PF GO!!!

  8. You PF cadres; for Lska mayor; we don’t need a PF or a UPND mayor; we need a qualified man or woman from any party or no party; even Mushota has some wisdom here; i ask her question; What exactly did the last Mayor do?

  9. Why do we seem to act and talk as if we want the one party system back…..careful you young people…..don’t argue you were not there……

  10. They should just declare the PF candidate the winner(unopposed) because have killed democracy in this country. They won’t let the main opposition party to campaign freely. There will be violence. No wonder people have lost interest in voting. A case in point is Chilanga
