The Department of Immigration yesterday apprehended a total of one hundred and thirty-six (136) foreign nationals for various immigration offences.

This was in a clean-up operation conducted in various parts of Lusaka that included COMESA market, town centre, Kabwata and Chilenje Markets, Kamwala Trading Area and Chaisa compound.

This is contained in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka by the Department of Immigration Acting Public Relations Officer, Mubanda Chileshe.

Mrs. Chileshe said the apprehended foreigners included sixty-seven (67) Tanzanians, twenty-one (21) Somalians, ten (10) Chinese and nine Burundese.

She said others include six (6) Congolese, four (4) Lebanese, three (3) Indians, three (3) Kenyans, two (2) Zimbabweans, two (2) Nigerians and a Turkish national including nine (9) Zambians who were apprehended for aiding the Illegal immigrants.

The Department has since warned all illegal immigrants to desist from staying in the country illegally in line with provisions of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010.

A timely warning is also extended to all Zambians who are in the habit of aiding illegal immigrants for their own benefits as the Law will ensure lawbreakers, regardless of nationality, are brought to book.

  1. For the first time you have found the courage to look at illigal Indian immigrants …….pleas they are just too many illigal Indians musqurading as Zambians…

    • This is madness. only three kenyans when there are more than 50 illegal kenyans at southgate shopping mall alone. These masais plaiting hair are a nuisance please cage them.

    • Great job. Enforce the law. But don’t be too hard on our African black brothers and sisters, unless they’re committing crimes. Concentrate on the Indians, Lebanese, Pakistani and the Chinese. China has some of the most stringent immigration laws on the book. They don’t play. We should return the favor too. Get them out.

  2. Concentrate less on our black brothers and sisters ……those Lebanese and Indians are who you should spend more time on……no black person is free in India.

    • @2 Spaka… I am with you 100%. In fact the laws in Africa must change to give less harsh sentence to our own black brothers when found in breach of Immigration laws! The entire continent especially Sub-Saharan Africa belongs to Black people.Only in black countries can they find peace and solace and be regarded as brothers! Elsewhere black people are insulted and treated like waste matter!! Can a Black Africa enter as an Illegal Immigrant in Lebanon or India and have even chance to be arrested and presented to court? They would just die at the hands of common citizens as we are highly hated by all! In fact Police and Immigration should look among themselves and arrest culprits among themselves who aiding these Indian,Pakistani, Lebanese and to some extent Chinese illegal immigrants…

  3. point of correction out of 136 , 100 are chinese and 30 Indians , 6 lebanese however due to exchange of brown envelopes the said have been released.

  4. Check out some of the wealthy Lebanese who live in Kafue road and especially in Green Park estate. Some of them (Her name is Najat Kaddoura) bought two Zambian passports for her kids (Randa Cherry and Sami Cherry) so she can keep them in the country illegally even though they’re unqualified for a citizenship yet! It seems the money bought some Zambian officers in Lusaka. Zambian government should arrest such people who give bribes and use Zambian people.

  5. K30000:00 that’s how cheap the Zambian citizenship is corruption is so rife that some Indians have offices specific for this where by even the ministers are involved in providing clearance for the immigration to provide Zambian passports the minister charges K50000:00 per passport

  6. Is the Zambian government knows how many of his people are leaving in South Africa illegally doing business living like they belong there let africain people live in their continent Africa is a whole country.

  7. Comment:I agree,i think African migration laws must be tougher on non Africans.just imagine a south African was jailed for 16 years in China for using a fake visa

  8. People..lets be realistic when one says ‘indians’ cause it sounds like hatred here…but i for one am against any illegal immigrants be it indian or any race..its as good as saying many don’t pay tax so how do we approach on this issue! Let’s be pratical and talk on any one who doesn’t pay tax too ..is it fair
