The Inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Ex-Mpatamatu Secondary School Association is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 30th 2018 in Luanshya.

Formally registered in May 2018, the Association is a grouping of former students seeking to provide education assistance to current students at the school.

Association Interim Chairman Mulenga Charles Mukunta confirmed that the first AGM will be held in the school hall from 09:00 Hours and encourages all former students to attend.

Mr Mukunta said the Association also acts as platform for Ex Mpatamatu Secondary School students to meet and to interchange encouragement and share opportunities for business and personal growth.

“This initiative started as a WhatsApp group in September 2015. Three meetings have been held in Kitwe, Luanshya and Lusaka and we were formerly registered on May 9th 2018. This is the first ever AGM for the Association and we are very excited to be meeting this Saturday. We currently have an interim Committee until June 30th,” Mr Mukunta said.

Mr Mukunta has also revealed that the Association has lined up a number of projects at the school such as the installation of a 5000 litre water tank, rehabilitation of the science Labs and painting of classroom blocks.

“Like everywhere else In Luanshya, water is the biggest challenge and the school has not been spared. We are looking at commissioning a new water tank to assist the school alleviate the water problem and the general infrastructure at the school requires attention,” he said.

Mr Mukunta also explained that the Association has lined up sponsorship of exceptional students and facilitating career talks at the school to encourage current students.

“We believe the provision of added value to one’s High School life while at Mpatamatu or indeed their afterlife in college or university or indeed in their personal life for the benefit of the students and the Community at large is important. This also provide a means of rationally paying back to the school.”

Mpatamatu High School was founded in 1966 and boasts of a very rich alumni, most notably late Vice President George Kunda, S.C, Dr Kalombo Mwansa, Dr Chishimba Kambwili, Immediate past Health Permanent Secretary Dr Peter Mwaba, Immediate Past UTH Managing Director Dr Lackson Kasonka, Coach Patrick Phiri and current ZCTU President Chishimba Nkole among many others.

  1. “Ex-Mpatamatu High School” For Non-Bembas Mpatamatu means without ears or Bembas who don’t listen. Apart from Patrick Phiri, the rest of the alumni consist of Bembas .Funny how everyone on the list is educated apart from the hippopotamus himself Chishimba Kambwili. And according to Genesis 4:1–16, Cain treacherously murdered his brother Abel. BEMBAS are descendants of Cain , a CURSED “fugitive , thief, dull and wanderer”.

    • Zambians are a problem, how does this noble cause become personal and tribal? Instead of applauding the efforts of these noble people trying to make a difference to society, you go on attack? No wonder you don’t get blessings in life.

  2. @****, Thank you for confirming what some accuse me of insinuating (tribalism) when code words are used by the tribal gathering that masquerades as a political party and members of the Galu Watchers in Zambia but I just decode them for “those who don’t listen!”

    • In your own explanation, what is news? Mine says, information that is not known to someone is news. Keep quiet if you have nothing to contribute. This information is new and relevant to most people, especially former students of this school and the town of Luanshya at large. I have no idea why there’s so much negativity in the minds of people.
