A 58 Year old woman of Chisoso Village in Shiwang`andu district is nursing a severe cut at Kalalantekwe Clinic after she was axed by her husband.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Joyce Mulenga a victim of Gender Based Violence (GBV) said that the incident happened after a marital dispute on Sunday around 19:00 hours.
Mulenga said that, her husband Milton Chileshe aged 60 axed her after she inquired on why he beat up another man`s wife who is a relative and accused her of committing adultery.Mulenga said that she has been on separation with her husband since January this year because of his violent nature.
The accused Milton Chileshe has been on the run since the incident happened.
And Shiwang`andu District Health Director Webster Kambinga said the condition of the GBV victim has stabilised and that she is responding well to treatment well.Dr. Kambinga said that the victim is likely to be discharged before the end of this week.
Meanwhile, Muchinga Police Commissioner, Chola Katanga has confirmed the incident adding that, a man hunt has since been launched to bring Chileshe to book.
This is very unfortunate in the sense that this is quite an elderly couple who are supposed to show a good example to the young ones. What are they going to teach the young ones if they are the ones involving themselves in GBV?
