Government is in the process of decentralizing the recruitment of teachers in the country.
Minister of General Education David Mabumba said his Ministry is making efforts to make sure that the recruitment of teachers is decentralized as soon as possible.
Mr. Mabumba told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that discussions are currently going on aimed at reviewing teacher recruitment so that the process is devolved.
“My comment on the decentralization of teacher recruitment is that conversations are ongoing with key stakeholders in the process. It is encouraging that recently government through Cabinet Office implemented the decentralization in Chibombo district,” he said.
Mr. Mabumba said once the stakeholders reach consensus the nation will be informed of the outcome from the ongoing discussions on devolving of teacher recruitment.
He further, stated that it is encouraging that government recently implemented the decentralization policy in Chibombo district in Central province through Cabinet office.
During the Ceremonial Opening of the 3rd Session of the 12th National Assembly on Friday, September 14, 2018, President Edgar Lungu said government will before the end of this year 2018 recruit 2,000 teachers to bridge the teacher to pupil ratio gap.

Comment:sir I just wanted to ask about early childhood education,is it included in the process of recruitment because Everytime the recruitment process begins,they only consider primary and secondary education.
We need to be honest in our recruitment of Teachers. Recruit earlier graduates first so that they start to pay back their loans to Government.
