The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) in Western Province has added its voice in commending Government’s move to strengthen its relations with the People’s Republic of China.
BETUZ Director in charge of administration, Suziyo Mwauluka has told ZANIS in Mongu in an interview that there is nothing wrong with Zambia establishing its bilateral ties with China.
Mr. Mwauluka said as a developing country Zambia has a lot to learn from China which is the second biggest economy in the world.
The BETUZ deputy director said China is a strategic partner whose bilateral ties with Zambia dates as far back as 1960s.
Mr. Mwauluka stated that Zambia should align itself with China, in order to tap from its vast experience in many sectors of the economy.
He said instead of being arm chair critics Zambians should see what opportunities can be harnessed China.
Mr. Mwauluka said China has always pursued a win-win diplomatic approach to Africa, adding that those who are condemning the approach are just doubting – Thomases.
