President Edgar Lungu is on today expected to leave for New York for the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Foreign Affairs Minister, Joseph Malanji disclosed that while in New York, the President will deliver a statement during the General Assembly.

Mr Malanji says President Lungu, who is also Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, will further brief the Assembly on the security situation in the region.

Speaking at a Press briefing today, Mr. Malanji said the President will also hold various bilateral talks with World leaders. Mr Malanji said that the visit to New York is expected to strengthen and deepen Zambia’s interaction with the global community and promote Zambia’s national interests.

The President is expected to be back on Friday, 28th September, 2018.

Meanwhile, President Edgar Lungu says it is not necessary for the church and government to be hostile to each other as they both have a common purpose of serving the people.

The Head of State noted that the church and government have an enormous task to save the people hence the need to complement each other.

The President said this during the 70th Anniversary of the World Council of churches in Zambia and the 31st general conference of Council of Churches in Zambia held at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

“We look forward to seeing churches fostering unity among the people and that it should be in the forefront sowing seeds of love and not discord,” he added.

President Lungu observed that for a long time the country has continued to see the church thrive at the helm of promoting peace and unity across political divides, adding that this should continue.

On national dialogue, the President advised the church to present itself as a guiding institution in the dialogue process without choosing a side, as this will defeat the purpose of national dialogue.

And president Lungu had also commended CCZ for taking centre stage in shaping societies through the implementation of various programs in communities.

He noted that the commitment shown by the church towards the provision of quality health care services to the people, especially in rural areas and also in building capacity in disaster risk reduction and climate change management.

And Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili said that the theme for this year ‘s national day of prayer could not have come at a better time than now when the church and government is supposed to walk, pray and work together.

Ms Sumaili has also called on people countrywide to observe the day of national prayer which falls on the October 18th, and turn up in good numbers to worship God.

This year’s national day of prayer will be celebrated under the theme “facing the future as a reconciled, united and prosperous nation, under God’s guidance”

But Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) President Alfred Kalembo said the church mother body will continue partnering with government in promoting of peace and unity in the country.

Reverend Kalembo assured government that CCZ will remain committed to the delivery of social services to the people especially in rural parts of the country.

    • Lungu spends more time in the sky than at state house. Even going from state house to mulungushi conf. center (5km) or airport (7km) he flies by helicopter.

He now holds world guiness record for the most traveled leader. No.2 is his godfather RB.

    • That’s all Lazy Lungu knows travelling …to show how prepared he is travels to CB then straight from there to NY all to go and sleep at meetings without even taking any notes!!

    • @Nostradamus
Me, I blame you for lungu’s new York trips, since you introduced our friend Edgar lungu to New York and tequila when he was home affairs minister, he finds all excuses in the book to find himself in New York, wamona nomba.

    • @Ndobo, boyi ulemoneka.
I stopped drinking na Ba Edgar. Last time he brought abena Kaizer, nalolesha… why mudala Edgar got himself with those bastards? He brought a team of lunatics on private jet, parked for 8 days and 7 nights, so expensive.
I can’t even attend any of their meetings in New York.

    • Lazy bum illiterate tribal hooligan bully son of a tribal polygamist father who never taught him toilet training needing diapers HAGAIN after pooping in public.

  1. Welcome Mr. President! Hardworking Mr. President. Let’s develop this thing! It will NEVER be president! Mad Cow Disease is embedded in TRIBALISM.

    • LT why are you not carrying a story that tells us how HH stole money from the privatization agency and how he was a conman involved in inside trading? Can you carry that report on Paradise Papers HAGAIN, please! Maybe the tribal land will get it that HH is a Thief?

  2. This is why I stated to the donors ..that if you want to punish these thieves just impose travel bans on his ministers and children you will see him fighting corruption immediately!!

  3. He will give his usual rants at airport and before the journalists ask him questions he will rush on plan and run away. This is the type of president you allowed to steal your vote as zambians. One who gains confidence when he is at airport and yet will not address the nation when serious theft of national funds have been misappropriated. He will go to New York to embarass us further. When you country is in crisis over stolen millions of donor funds, you should be home as a leader trying to sort the mess out. What a waste of space

  4. Mr president while in New York try to avoid running into the leaders of Britain, Norway, Sweden etc lest they ask you to pay back the stolen money in public and embarrass you.

    • HH while in Namwala He will return the money he stole from Zambians. Being close to Animo Farm is like being near dung with a lot of flies. Dung heads Ha so delusional. They see HH’s theft in others. We call it projecting.

  5. These under 5s are really bitter that ECL and PF are in power and not them . Come boys ba under 5 insult the President show us your hatred it was HH who was supposed to go to New York in your dreams

  6. When is Lungu expected in Chibolya ,Kalingalinga ,Misisi and Mongu to see the poverty his people wallow in daily? New York is too fabulous it’ll give Lungu a false sense of socio-economic security.

  7. Is he selfless man

    Does he hate corruption

Is he the most intelligent man

    Is he sincere

Is this the best man zambia can produce

Am not here to answer. The only thing I can say is that we gave him a chance to rule us and history is there to judge

Its time someone else takes over PF is 2021. Pf is not upendi with a supreme leader surrounded by bootlickers like spaka

Am not cadre . Am a patriot who loves this country

    • And someone is dying of Ichikonko! God bless Edgar! Wina Hazafa with hate! In 2021, it shall definitely retire and GBM will become UPND leader Kekekeke.

    • I am a patriot too! That makes us two! I aren’t a cadre ether! I am just OBJECTIVE! Let’s develop this thing Mr. President! It will NEVER be a President, at least not under our watch!

  8. Edgar the ever travelling president he can’t sit home an accomplish things. No wonder the English say “a rolling stone gathers no moss”

    • Doctor, “What is your main problem?”
      Tonga, “I don’t like him!”
Doctor, “Why don’t you like him?”
Tonga, “He is not Tonga! But I can’t say that!”
Doctor, “So, what do you say instead?”
Tonga, “Anything else that comes to my mind, but not that!”
Doctor, “You are a tribalist! Did you know that?”
Tonga, “No! No doctor I am not! I just like HH!”

  9. If there was poverty in Chbolya,Misisi and Kalingalinga in your Dundumwezl brain do you think PF would have won the Mayoral seat???. So you think you can lie to Zambians that once under 5 takes over there will be no poverty???

    • Even cows know the day to vote and they vote for HH. And patients in hospitals too. That is why they chase away those who want to verify the Voters Registers. Children also vote for HH that is why the numbers can even beat the most urbanised region in Zambia CB.

  10. This name,Sharon, has a lot of hate for HH.Instead of hating the man,get rich yourself.Esther won’t even give you her old pair of shoes which she has thrown in dust bin at Nkwazi house. You will die hating HH without having a decent meal or bed where you can rest your sweaty hair and yellow teeth.Talk to kaiza for a tube of tooth paste and old teeth brush.

  11. Mr Asif
For what reason can majority Zambians love HH, with his bad manners of unpatriotic..?
HH don’t love Zambia. He loves Zambian’s Minerals.
He’s not fighting for Zambians, he’s fighting for his WHITE supremacy.
2021 on 16 th August judgement day is coming for him. From 06hrs to 18 hrs , ballot booths WILL BE CLOSED.

  12. We need to be respectful toward each other.Let’s start thinking and argue on issues beyond tribe and names. These politics of hate won’t take this nation forward.Zambia is bigger than political parties.UNIP thought will rule forever, MMD thought will rule forever and another party will not rule forever..So if God has given you a fraction to rule or govern let’s continue to be considerate.Opposition parties your time will come and same applies to the party in power KARMA will come .All in all lets be respectful toward each other for the good of this nation.

  13. @sharon nikoko fye, the only thing she knows is tribal hatred. That’s the problem with ba grade 3. No data just for the sake of appeasing her master. Don’t be commenting when the rate of exchange is going way ward “at my hard working president” chopeti lyobe!!!

  14. Who uses both titles? Dr and Bishop. Pick one. When you have several titles, the highest supersedes the others. Please Zambians, start thinking.

  15. Imwe ba UPND you want to come out like you are not tribalists so that other tribes can vote for your ka god. But what lets you down is your hate speech it is repulsive!!
