Namibia put pressure on Zambia and Guinea Bissau

Share

It is all-square in Group K of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers with all four teams heading into match-day-four this week tied on points following Namibia’s dramatic away win over Mozambique on Saturday.

Namibia came from behind to stun Mozambique 2-1 away in Maputo.

Edson Mexer gave Mozambique a 1-0 halftime lead with a header that took deflection off Namibian player before going in.

But Petrus Shitembi equalized in the 69th minute before the industrious Deon Hotto scored a stoppage time to hand Namibia their first Group K win.

Namibia, Guinea Bissau, Zambia and Mozambique are now all tied on 4 points after three rounds.

Zambia must now beat Guinea Bissau on Sunday away in Bissau heading into their penultimate Group K game in November away to Mozambique who suffered their first loss in the qualifiers today.

However, victory for Zambia tomorrow will only see them take command of Group K until Tuesday when Mozambique visit Namibia in Windhoek when the status in the pool will be confirmed at the end of match-day-four.
