The Patriotic Front has welcomed the constituted four man committee of eminent persons consisting of Chief Ngabwe, Senior Chief Madzimawe, Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika and Chifumu Banda to lead the dialogue process.

Party Secretary General Davies Mwila has also mentioned that political parties affiliated to ZCID made a collective decision to bring on board a Committee of eminent Zambians and the names announced are those of credible persons with vast experience in their respective fields.

“Each political party was asked to submit two names to ZCID. Patriotic Front, like other parties made those submissions but the final decision was left to the ZCID to make. So we welcome the composed committee”, He said.

Mr. Mwila said ZCID is composed of political parties, including UPND and as such the decisions made have a binding effect on its members.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue has refuted a statement attributed to UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma, that the party was never consulted on the appointment of a committee of eminent persons to chair the national political dialogue process.

ZCID spokesperson Jackson Silavwe said apart from the UPND representatives on the ZCID board being part of the board meetings on 16th and 21st August, 2018 were a resolution was made to have local eminent persons chair the national dialogue process the party was also written to them on 21st August, 2018 and the letter was delivered on 22nd August, 2018 and stamped received.

Mr. Silavwe said the letter clearly requested the UPND to second names of eminent persons of their choice to chair the national dialogue in view of the stalled discussions with the leaders of the three church mother bodies (EFZ, CCZ and ZCCB).

He said ZCID through the Executive Director’s office received two letters dated 24th August, 2018 from the UPND Secretary General’s Office, Stephen Katuka and the Party President’s office Hakainde Hichilema reemphasizing their position to have the process being led by the three church mother bodies.

Mr. Silavwe said to assert that the UPND was not consulted is simply not stating the truth bent on advancing a negative perception against ZCID.

He said the door is still open should the UPND decide not to do so, the political reconciliation, constitutional and institutional reforms will still proceed.

  1. Engaging Hakainde is like being taken into a mind of a psychopath where he begins to play with you there with him. It is unnecessary. There is a saying about a sweet potato. You cannot straighten it!

  2. What will be the point of this dialogue of the biggest opposition party won’t be part of it. Better to make sure all parties are part of it before proceeding otherwise it will be a wasted exercise.

  3. The two worst and hopeless political parties to have ever appeared on the Zambia political landscape are PF and UPND. I don’t even know why the trade insults because they are both PATHETIC. I wish there was a way they could go extinct please

  4. It is a missed opportunity for not letting the Commonwealth nor the church chair and be part of the dialogue process. Just as it was a missed opportunity for not letting Guy Scott to be a Zambian president.

    God Bless Zambia.

  5. What’s the point of doing a reconciliation with someone who was not injured. When the dialogue and reconciliation started it was when HH was in custody which led to this reconciliation. Which is a reconciliation between PF and UPND other parties are just by the way(Remember when Patricia Scotland came, it was about HH and ECL and organised HH’s release)So when ZCID says that’s it doesn’t matter if UPND isn’t there they will go ahead . Who will the PF be reconciling with? May be they want to reconcile with the parties already supporting PF such as Danny Pule’s party…This is why the PF doesn’t want the church to lead because the church will be just and wont tolerate pretending , its also the reason why the didn’t want foreign intervention..This reconciliation cannot take place…

    • Patricia Scotland will laugh her lungs out after she hears this , the all dialogue came about as result of the treason case, if don’t care if upnd is not there then who are they going to dialogue and reconcile with, aba ba silavwe batekanye sana batata.

  6. Why is PF so eager to have this four man commitee? why is the church left out? surely dialogue should have no conditions. Let the church and the four all be there at this dialogue and let all partys agree on who is to dialogue. For the PF to be so eager means they have hand picked these so called elders.

  7. The majority of the political parties are compromised by PF because they are feeding on leftovers from the PF tables. This is a well calculated move to try and deceive the masses and the international community. What was wrong with the commonwealth committee or the Church mother bodies? These institutions were rejected because they stand for the truth to protect their reputation and could have pressurize the government to abide by the outcomes of the dialogue. If they PF MPs defiled court orders to pay back money they got? What can ZCID or the so called elders do?

  8. But why umwaiche hh aletina? He’s the causer of this dialogue… Afwilefye asangwe uyo mbuli!!! HH don’t think that u’re a child or the last born muma politics. Only a demon acts like that….!!

  9. Bashi K its high time you stop burrying your head in the sand. Its you evil Lungu who is dead scared of hh and having the Church lead the dialogue because of all the crimes he is committing. As for you Sharon you are unbelievably evil and shameless.

  10. Look at all these chaps falling over each other to do the reconciliation but leaving those to be reconciled behind. Typical kaponya mentality of fighting over everything as if they are the ones to be reconciled to each other. Without ECL & HH there is no reconciliation. You may as well call it something else.

  11. Why is it that suddenly the church is left out on this important national matter. Let the church lead the dialogue and avoid suspicions from other parties. Why insist on ZCID lead the National Dialogue when other parties are not comfortable with this institution. there is need for all involved parties to be truthful and sincere to this process. This Dialogue will not achieve anything as long as peoples motives and intentions are not right.

  12. This dialogue is for what? There is nothingo in this country to warrant this stupidity of wanting talking. You mean one person should hold the country to ransom. Ehehehehe so bena kadafI balipwa t put a stop to this child’s play.

  13. Those pipo who refuse to recognise zcid can stay away from comenting on whatever zcid is doing.Let them concentrate on other things. Why chimibaba.
