Zambia has been chosen to hold the end of the year full Southern Africa Students Union Executive Meeting in preparation for the 2019 Regional Meeting for all students’ bodies in Southern Africa.

The development follows the decision of the SASU Regional Conference held at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg from October 25th to 28th 2018.

Announcing the decision of the Executive that met to discuss the bids by countries to hold the meeting last night, SASU Acting Secretary General, Maxwell Dhlamini said the successful bid by the Zambia National Students Union to host the Regional Students Educational Summit is in honour of how Zambia and Zambian students have contributed to liberating the Southern Africa.

“We are happy with successes scored by ZANASU in defense of academic freedoms and for making a good case and making a case that reflects the good Zambian image.”

And SASU National Executive member from Zambia, Gerald Chiluba, thanked the SASU leadership for the confidence they have placed in Zambia hosting the Executive Meeting and Regional Summit on Education.

Mr. Chiluba who is also former ZANASU Congress Chairperson, said he is confident that ZANASU is building required capacity to host such a regional event and that Government should work together with ZANASU in planning for these events.

The 2018 SASU Education Summit also stated that the Africa – China Relations must be strengthened to include the need for China to help provide seed funding for education in Africa even as China pursues its business interest in the region.

SASU has called on African leaders to negotiate for concession that will ensure that China does not only come to do business in Africa but can also invest in the education of students in the region.

Zambia is represented at the Regional Education Summit by ZANASU Secretary General, Isaac Mwanza, and ZANASU Gender and Human Rights Secretary, Chipo Munsaka.

  1. Believe us Zambia isn’t conducive for hosting student summit. The govt is so intolerant and will not allow students to assemble. Freedom of assembly in Zambia is none existent. Luo won’t allow u

  2. ZANASU has sold our country well in the regional despite existing conflict with Minister of higher learning. Lungu must raise above board to show that Zambians may have internal differences but we can be above these differences

  3. LUO IS DANGER TO THIS SUMMIT. SHE WILL ENSURE IT FAILS OR MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR STUDENTS TO MEET. DAMN SCARED WOMAN! LUO WAS LOVED FOR HER THIGHS DURING MMD ERA BUT NOW HER UGLINESS IS EATING HER UP

  4. How? Student unions have been disbanded in Zambia, so how do we host guest in your home when the hosts have been kicked out by the land lord….

  5. WHAT A JOKE WHEN OUR STUDENTS ARE PERSECUTED – @BAS= YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT- AND THIS SHOWS WHAT LIES ARE BEING TOLD TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD BY THE PF !! HOPEFULLY FOREIGN STUDENT UNIONS WILL GO BACK AND TELL THE WORLD ABOUT THE REAL ZAMBIA —–THE ZAMBIA WHERE THERE IS NO REAL DEMOCRACY, THE ZAMBIA WHERE PEOPLE ARE TOO SCARED TO OPENLY SPEAK ABOUT CORRUPTION, LOOTING, POLITICS. THE ZAMBIA WHERE OPPOSITION ARE HOUNDED AND NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK ON STATE BROADCASTING STATIONS, ………………..THE ZAMBIA WHERE IF YOU HAVE RECORDS OF LOOTING AND YOU PRESENT IT YOU ARE FIRED AND PERSECUTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
