Parts of Mchinji, Mzimba, Kasungu and Rumphi districts have been declared to belong to Zambia during the border re-demarcation exercise.

Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Jean Kalilani told Parliament in a ministerial statement that the physical demarcation of border lines started on a pilot basis in 1993 and boundary inspections have been carried since then.

Kalilani advised Malawians residing in the affected areas against changing their nationalities from Malawi to Zambia.

The Minister said the government of Zambia and Malawi had agreed that until a new border treaty come into effect, local people should remain where they were before the demarcation.

“The two governments will agree on the way forward after receiving all the reports on the exercise, including a report on the impact assessment study. I, therefore, propose that the affected people should maintain their nationality and be allowed to register upon verification by local leaders,” said Kalilani.

People living near the Malawi-Zambia Border in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chindi in Mzimba have been living in fear due to a wrangle with their Zambian counterparts over border re-demarcation exercise.

The wrangle affected learning, as some chiefs allege that Zambians destroyed Byembye Primary School which was initially in Malawi but is now in Zambia after the re-demarcation.

Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V pleaded with government to intervene in the matter.

According to Kalilani, the Zambia and Malawi governments have put in place a strategy to meet regularly and resolve any emerging issues while the exercise is taking place.

    • Let’s roll … we are adding more Zambians to the tally. They better be smart like the rest of us otherwise we will send them to Malawi.

Overall, we expect them to be better than Gay Gay, the low libido, low class, low IQ serial blogger hiding in the not so Great Britain somewhere.

Welcome to Zambia!!! The greatest nation God gave man on the continent of Africa … Let’s roll

    • Africans, we fight over demarcations that were determined by colonialists from another continent. If you see these people they speak the same language, same cultural practices. Boma settle this rubbish

  1. Is it because of Chinoda Ngwira? Chinoda Ngwira of PF, the man who threatened Judges and asked them to resign was born in Mzimba.

Sydney Mushanga the Minister of Central Province was born in Ncheu District, in Malawi.

    They are Malawian by birth.

    • Kaonde ,Lamba and Bemba lands yes but not Zambian as these tribes are in equaliy in both side in Congo and Zambia ! Congolese Always claim bemba à Originals of Congo From Luba tribe !funny enough mostl names and town names are found in both countries ! Hence à town
      called Lusaka in Drc !

  2. There has been cross border voting along the Malawi-Zambia border. I guess this is a move to formalize the rigging process.

  3. These boarders were just designed to isolate us. In fact, Zambia and Malawi are one. We speak same language and our children have created inter-marriages. These lines were created by our colonial masters to divide us. We are better off removing all these boarders. They do not solve any purpose. Boundaries should not divide us because we are united by one umbilical cord which cannot be broken. We all experienced the same degrading conditions under our colonial masters.
This is not the time to speak about frivolous things like boundaries. We need to unite and fight poverty and debilitating HIV that has engulfed our nations. These boarders are like great Berlin Walls which are supposed to be destroyed.

  4. We used to be one people anway until the colonialists came and drew those imaginary lines between us. No wonder Lady Minister looks like RB. She could be his distant cousin or a sister from another mother.

  5. @4 Spy Marsha.. I am with you on the issue of MAY BE ..MAY BE negotiating with the DRC to surrender some parts of Katanga, ESPECIALLY THE PEDICLE, IT IS UNREASONABLY PART OF THE DRC!! It is like the Caprive Strip, which was chopped off Botswana to give German colonialists access to the Zambezi. As for the Pedicle, the reasons for having that irritating piece of land jutting into Zambia is NOT CLEAR hence the NEED TO HAVE SOME FRANK DISCUSSIONS ON IT!! I HAVE ALSO THAT SOME PARTS OF TANZANIA AFTER NAKONDE BELONG TO ZAMBIA UP TO SOME 50Km INSIDE TZ- There are again we need to discuss very frankly!! IN ALL THESE WE NEED TO AVOID CONFLICTS AND AGREE ON HOW TO UNITE PEOPLE, SINCE WE ARE ONE!!

  6. Why is this Sharon so tribalitic, who made your tribe better than others? You must stop insulting God who created all human beings equally. May God Almighty curse you for demeaning His creation and His children, may you children and your relatives do the same to you as you have done to the family of God.

  7. yES ITS TIME FOR ZAMBIA TO GO TO WAR WITH MALAWI OUR SOLDIERS HAVE NEVER SHOT A PERSON UNTIL THEY GET SHOT IN UN PEACE KEEPING. LETS DO KA DYONKHO WAR AND STOP ONCE MORE CASUALTIES ARE RECORDED FROM EITHER SIDE

  8. Right no Anyoko. Ma soldier baku chipoto…..mess is all they know. Quaffing tax free booze and shagging /marrying anything in a skirt. Why do soldiers marry ma kazizi amene sanga baze na program ya nkunda….!

  9. There are areas along Malawi-Zambia border where people have constructed their dwelling houses or huts on the Zambian side but their toilets and bathrooms are on Malawian side..so in short they sleep in Zambia but the bath and do the rest in Malawi….

  10. Poor Malawi. Tiny as they are and losing more land. They might as well just give up being a country. Kapwepwe almost did it once.

  11. Wow! A small country with imaginable population instead of gaining more we losing more, indeed we need to make painful sacrifices so that peace can prevail

  12. Achimwenes are funny people indeed..lol.. how can you afford to give away land to another country??? It ll be great to surrender some villages to Malawi…lol

  13. Malawi is surrendering Tumbukas to Zambia, a small tribe, highly educated, noisy and causing a lot of trouble to the rulling DPP. this small tribe will cause us trouble as they’re highly successful. No tribe in Malawi matches this ka tiny tribe of Malawian tumbukas
