Zesco set for Kaizer Chiefs showdown

Share

Zesco United continue to attract floor-filler opponents in continental action, and this time drew Kaizer Chiefs in the last 15 of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup.

A week after their big Copperbelt/Katanga derby against five-time African champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo that they lost 2-1 on aggregate and saw them eliminated from the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League pre-group stage, Zesco have yet again attracted another big gun in the CAF Confederation Cup .

Zesco will face 2001 CAF Cup Winners Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs in the battle for a place in February’s group stage of the Confederation Cup.

Chiefs will visit Zesco on January 12 in Ndola and the final leg will follow on January 19 in Johannesburg.

This will be Chiefs second trip to Zambia after a 2-0 aggregate loss to Nchanga Rangers in the 2000 CAF Cup last 16, that the Chingola side won by the same margin away in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Nkana have a date against San Pedro of Cote de Ivoire in their battle to reach the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

Nkana will also be at home on January 13 in Kitwe, 24 hours after Zesco’s engagement with Chiefs.

  1. Zambians and teams involved work together is team needs supporters so mobilise funs by making sure its easy for funs to buy tickets not so expensive, transport to ferry them to and from at a reasonable amount. Teams should connected to supporters not at I bakesa mukutamba its long gone.
If possible let tecket sales go house to house and transport involved in the ticket so you ferry people just to the stadium.
    In short strategise on supporters.
Players must be fit and full of fighting spirit no pride showing show hour willing ness to win or move out.

  2. An appeal to Nkana my favorite club.Pls this time around do not exercise mercy when we face this club from West Africa.Let us win convincingly. At least 4-0 or 5-0.We can achieve this by not being selfish where everyone wants to score. Muleh from Luangwa
