Kilambe gives take on looming Zesco-Chiefs showdown

Share

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs striker Rotson Kilambe is predicting an interesting match when his old South African club faces Zesco United in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off in January.

Zesco will host Chiefs on 12 January in the first leg tie at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Kilambe, who played for Chiefs in between 2006 and 2007, said both teams are at peak.

‘It will be a good game. Both Zesco and Kaiser Chiefs are big teams and currently are at peak,’ the former Chipolopolo star said.

Kilambe warned Zesco to be wary of Chiefs’ fast paced style of play.

‘Kaiser Chiefs plays speedy football and has fast players,’ he said.

The retired striker tipped Zesco to overcome Chiefs.

‘Zesco will win the game. I have confidence in them. I am also looking forward to watching the game,’ Kilambe said.

Zesco are in the Confederation Cup after being ejected from the Champions League.

  1. Zesco United have always struggled against SA teams. They were kicked out by Mamelodi Sundowns at CAF Champions League quarter final stage somewhere in 2016 if not mistaken. Supersport United too knocked them out at some stage. The have lost a number of times during their off season preps to SA clubs in South africa. Looking at that background, I doubt they will progress.
