PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Mobilizing Committee Chairperson and Member of the Central Committee Dr. Charles Banda has urged that the upcoming National Dialogue slated for 18th January should not embarrass the President.

Speaking in his office this morning, Dr. Banda who is also Minister of Tourism and Arts said the initiative by the three Church Mother Bodies is good but that the dialogue should bring out what the Zambians expect.

He said that it should not be an opportunity to disrespect the Head of State because the opposition will have a chance to meet and speak with him on the topic Dialogue for Reconciliation and Unity.

Dr. Banda said this against a background of what happened in 1996-97 when a meeting of all opposition political parties was called at Mulungushi International Conference Centre to look at where national problems were lying in order to resolve issues and move in harmony.

He disclosed that some political leaders and presidents of political parties thought it was a time to challenge, intimidate and disrespect the sitting President, then late Republican President Mr. Frederick Chiluba and it had to take the National Secretary of the MMD, Brigadier General Miyanda to take his party president out of the meeting.

He said those in opposition should not go to the Indaba for a showdown and that the event is meant to resolve problems for the betterment of the country and the good of the people of Zambian.

He advised that respect is part and parcel of the Zambian culture; tradition and President Edgar Lungu should be respected.

Dr. Banda said should respect seem to be missing in the meeting; his party will remove the President from the meeting.

    • Mwebantu stop playing akabwambe. This is 2019 let’s do good to our future generation. our time is running out.

    • But PF has no RESPECT for their top leader. Remember Mumbi Phiri was suspended for disrespecting Ba Edgar?
They are going to PULL him out!? Pulling him out like umwaiche? Pull him out from what… In whose is he stuck?

    • There you go…
Trying to find a reason why this should not work. Remember, they all agreed to a non-conditional meeting, and the meeting is for Party Leaders and not for President I believe.

But that doesn’t mean people should not respect each other during the discussions.

    • People that keep insisting that they should be respected are not worthy of being respected.

Have you ever heard the Pope asking to be respected ?

Did Mandela ever ask to be respected?

Respect comes naturally based on how you behave and how you treat others.

I think someone should remind Lungu that he is NOT a god.

    • @IndigoTyrol,
      Good points.
But what do you expect from ECL, if all his people think he was anointed by God? He is just doing what those idii.o.ts whish him to be, so…..

    • Respect is an enermy for upnd. Just read comments for those who support upnd and you wont be surprised with the vulgarity you will hear.

    • Respect is earned not demanded. Demanding it is a symptom of dictatorship. Go earn it among your peers. What are you scared of if you have the capacity to mingle with them? Are they not human as you are? Just tell them what is best for the country and show leadership, we will remember you for that ECL.

    • There’s no difference between our President and that congregation of judges being called the constitutional court. They demand respect. They dont wanna earn the respect. They just want to instil fear in anyone who converses with them. They are dictators!

    • Personally I hope this dialogue fails and it will fail if you follow Dr Bootlicker Banda’s sentiments here. The PF especially the humble leader will very soon come crawling to the dialogue table once he finally smells the coffee, sir things are bad obviously you dont know(thanks to your so called advisers like Kaiser Amos and Sikazwe)or you have decided to bury your head in the sand hoping for a miracle to save you.Either way the bells are tolling and i am not a prophet but soon you will come back crawling to the table when even the lies of your advisers cant save you.Remember you will soon be alone…this is not a prophecy, but even an 1diot can foresee..

  1. We are 2 years away from a national election. Who cares about dialogue?
UPND and PF are wasting time on this useless venture. What dialogue?

    • I want to remind the Zambia Correctional Services that Gladys Nyriongo former Minister of Lands has not yet served her jail term. Media houses are sleeping @HOT877Zambia @rphoenixnews @lusakatimes @PaulShalalaZNBC

      #JusticeforAll

    • You are totally correct! Since the last election this country has come to an economical stand still because of useless politic from all parties….two years to go and nothing to show for it.

    • James Banda you are now trying to aportion blame to the opposition? You forget that just after winning the 2016 elections Edgar started campaigning?Dont mislead us,we know who is to blame, though sometimes even blaming Lungu is misplaced. The man to blame is late Sata,as you should know this comedy happening before us would not be there if Sata was a true leader. He surrounded himself with wrong charactere, was clueless, divisive fueled confusion and had no direction. Without Sata Edgar would have remained where he belongs…

  2. I fail to understand why ECL is even entertaining these perpetual losers. They lost and they will lose Hagain come 2021. Who is going to put a president in state how that will start forcing others to speak Tonga? There is nothing to dialogue about. Losers should just move on and prepare for another defeat says the voters.

    • You will understand soon;
Watch “lungu stole HH’s votes (Evidence 2)” on YouTube
Watch “Dr Chishimba Kambwili talks about President Edgar Lungu’s Earnings from birth” on YouTube

  3. Who would respect this thief any way, people loa respect for him when they knew he duped a poor widow on broad day light and went and drunk the money, only dull PF cadres respect him because of the stolen money he gives them,,sad part they also know the money is stolen and they don’t care, just typical of PF cadres since they are all thieves and Kaponya’s any way… Useless lot most of them have a 0 IQ,or chose to think with their stomachs

  4. I agree to what the honorable mister has said. The coming together of major political players in Zambia should not be a time to insult each other. Mutual respect should prevail from both sides. All opposition political parties should acknowledge the presence of the head of state at this important meeting and accord him the respect due to him. When this is done I believe the head of state and his entourage with respond with respect. In the Bible in Romans Chapter 13; Every one should submit themselves to the governing authorities , for their is no authority except that which has been established by God. It goes on to say in verse 3, for rulers hold no terror to those who are law abiding. So all the people present should go and stand and welcome the president when he arrives. This is…

    • DM
That is nonsense, cant you see that they want kid’s gloves treatment?I look forward to a president that will ban this useless declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.I yearn for pragmatic leadership. Honestly you even quote the bible in support of thieves?

  5. This is biblical and once this is done those in the presidential party will have no choice but to respond with respect as well. Please we do not want to see this dialogue process fail and all those involved should ensure that these talks succeed for the good of mother Zambia.

  6. How do you resolve problems without confronting the problems? Those attending should go there with a list of issues to be discussed , in other words; an agenda. I would imagine that corruption would be on that list and as they say that the truth hurts, those responsible for corruption will feel like they are being disrespected.
You can’t resolve issues / problems without discussing them, that’s why we do not progress in Africa. This president should have balls to face criticism from the opposition, otherwise what’s the point in having opposition parties in your democratic country ?

    • NOPE. That is where we get it wrong. If everyone needs to come with their own list or agenda, this whole sh..it is worthless., and that is what we are talking about. Asking to be respected is already an issue for someone, so do you want to discuss who and how someone should get respected? Noooo…
The Church and the st.u.pid ZCID should have an agenda already, they are the ones moderating the discussion and should have an agenda.
What we should be asking the participants, is PLEASE come with the list of Solutions. OTHERWISE, ALL of the participants will fall into the category of LOOSERS. ECL & HH inclusive.

  7. Before entering everyone should be upstanding with chin out. Once the president is seated all should kneel while bowing until the president commands them to take seats.

  8. It’s non negotiable, the presidency has to be respected. After all the 1diots clamoring for dialogue are doing so because they want to become president. …not that they have our interests in their evil hearts.

    • So far you are the ONLY ONE with the mind to think properly and see issues as they are. The Opposition leaders will not miss this opportunity to demean President Lungu. Zambia is lacking mature Opposition leaders. So far only Hivie Hamududu thinks properly. The rest are not even fit to be Councilors. All they want is to become President for THEIR SELFISH GAIN.

  9. Some of us don’t care whether this dialogue takes place or not. After all they won’t even implement whatever they will resolve

  10. Comment:As it should be. Especially Kambwili who wants to personalise national issues. He suddenly thinks he’s a fountain of wisdom. Infact him even said the dialogue can go ahead without the Head of State. Extremely childish. He needs to tone down and just accept that ECL is president and take him on in 2021, if he so wishes.

  11. Dr Charles Banda, you have hit the nail on the head, I hear you. That is why I don’t support the dialogue especially led by the so called 3 church mother bodies without the ZCID. We all know that the trib.als party has nothing to lose because it is clear to them that Trib.al Hacks will never ever be President of Zambia. Their motive is publicity especially to cause maximum embarrassment to the President. What is required is civility and decorum (not respect) in addressing each other, especially the republican President. Did you see how that trib.al was poking his finger at the President when he went with decorum to greet the trib.als after addressing parliament? That is why ZCID wanted an agenda and a procedure for the meeting before hand, the churches cannot be trusted with ensuring…

  12. The real dialogue, is found on social media because we freely interact with chaps like Spaka and jj.

    Thats what we call dialogue

  13. Dr. Banda has a valid point. In ECL are two inseparable personalities and capacities which re intertwined and embodied. Opposition should conceive this fact that he is coming to the dialogue as PF and Republican president, No argument about it.HH and his alliance ought to be aware that they will ve a rare chance of sitting on a table with a man wielding the instruments of power and with a mandate from the people of Zambia to rule over them!

  14. Mr. Kudos is right, Gladys Nyirongo has not yet served her sentence. Can the new Director General of Prisons or Zambia Correctional Services issue a statement on this matter to set the record straight or has she been pardoned….?

  15. The dialogue important as it may be, should have an explicit agenda otherwise it we will be exposing the office of the presidency into ridicule by some disgruntled, some one man political parties. The highest office in the land MUST be respected because it has the mandate of the majority of our citizens like it or not. Looking at the so called heads of opposition political parties, one does not get any inspiration other than seeing individuals lining up to attend to their own selfish interests. It is difficult to understand how these one man political parties will work with Hakainde Hichilema who now seems to have lost but all integrity due to his bitterness and egoistic tendencies.

  16. Why is PF so afraid of this dialogue. The president is mature enough to speak and dialogue with other party presidents by himself without all the PF moth pieces who are3 treating him like a five year old boy going into court to answer charges by himself. In fact it is better without all these empty vessels that fill his head with untruths just to keep their jobs. This dialogue must take place for the peace of our country. So all you PF that are afraid must back off and clamp up. You are afraid that the presidents eyes and ears will be opened and some of you lose your jobs. ECL is the president and no harm will come to him so all of you sit down and stay calm but dialogue must take place. we love our country more than our pockets.

    • THE PROBLEM HE HAS NO LEADERSHIP, INTEGRITY AND PASSION. THE CHANDA’S AND THE SEBANA WEKUTE CLAN TELL HIM WHAT HE SHOULD DO. AS IT STANDS DIALOGUE IS A THREAT TO THEIR BUSINESS MODEL.

  17. Dr Wa ku Zambia Chinyanja Radio Station. Kkkkkkk. What respect do you want? As a doctor as you claim please sound civilised.2021 please come fast we are fed up with these ba kawalala

  18. Comment:no one will come and solve our problems, let us not be afraid to dialogue,we need to move forward as a people.

  19. Just don’t allow The President, Our President, to sit with these trib.als. We don’t need the dialogue, they do.

  20. All you who are commenting useless comments, it’s like you don’t have children at home. I will tell your children to start disrespecting you all, it’s like you don’t respect your father’s.respect your leaders especially the head of state please, muli finkuula

  21. One thing should be clearly understood here;HH and his opposition group are coming to the dialogue table with a person of a HIGHER standing than them. It’s not his usual meetings with briefcase political party leaders Mulongoti and the like. They re actually facing ECL,the Republican President,to raise there complaints or concerns for him to either consider or not.In other words HH and his group re complainants. So,protocols should be observed before, during and after the meeting. Its a sad reality UPND has to roll with.

  22. Just cancel this useless meeting on national dialogue.Let them meet in the arena ,’Ballot box’.This meeting won’t yield anything good apart from insulting each other especially especially from PF and UPND.Some parties have failed to contribute effectively and meaningfully in parliament and do those organising for this national dialogue think that some parties will now behave, interact and dialogue sensibly and find solutions to the current national issues .The answer is ‘NO’ because the president of each party wants to be in state house.I see the deliberations to be very provocative from all sides as none has low tone of voice .Politicians in Africa are all the same and are after amassing wealth .They lie that they will bring development and create jobs.Where are the jobs???.There are…

  23. There are no jobs in zambia and 90 percent of Zambians live in abject poverty and remain vulnerable to having an early death due to poor dietary intake .Who is going to solve these problems?? Politicians with questionable interests. The choice is for the Zambian people to choose.

  24. Nonsense from the Dr. Tell PF cadres such as Amos Chanda, Sunday Chanda, Antonio Mwanza, Nakachinda, Lusambo, Mumbi Phiri, Davies Mwila and Dora Siliya to respect people before you talk about opposition political parties.

  25. President is a president he deserves respect . Insults won’t earn you popularity but finish you. Some people are brought up in homes where they chat with insults. Ba zicta where are do your job by sorting out all those who post insults. We are tired of these small groups. They are damaging this wonderful page.
