Sundowns coach tips Kaizer Chiefs to knockout Zesco

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes their archrivals Kaizer Chiefs will eliminate Zesco United in the two-legged 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup pre-group tie.

Mosimane is very familiar with Zesco whom they eliminated in the 2016 CAF Champions League semifinals but additionally have also met in a couple of club friendlies both in Ndola and Pretoria over the years.

Last Saturday, Sundowns beat Chiefs 2-1 away in a league match to end their hosts three-match winning run.

“Against Zesco, with Kaizer Chiefs playing like this – in my opinion, and my experience – I think they are proper for home, but Ndola is tough hey,” Mosimane told Kickoff.

“It’s not easy with that team, they are a bit tricky. I think you saw how they played against TP Mazembe, who were skating on thin ice. But Kaizer Chiefs has the team for that.”

Zesco drew 1-1 with Mazembe in Ndola on December 22 but bowed out of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League pre-group stage 2-1 on aggregate and subsequently saw them relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup this month.
