Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes their archrivals Kaizer Chiefs will eliminate Zesco United in the two-legged 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup pre-group tie.

Mosimane is very familiar with Zesco whom they eliminated in the 2016 CAF Champions League semifinals but additionally have also met in a couple of club friendlies both in Ndola and Pretoria over the years.

Last Saturday, Sundowns beat Chiefs 2-1 away in a league match to end their hosts three-match winning run.

“Against Zesco, with Kaizer Chiefs playing like this – in my opinion, and my experience – I think they are proper for home, but Ndola is tough hey,” Mosimane told Kickoff.

“It’s not easy with that team, they are a bit tricky. I think you saw how they played against TP Mazembe, who were skating on thin ice. But Kaizer Chiefs has the team for that.”

Zesco drew 1-1 with Mazembe in Ndola on December 22 but bowed out of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League pre-group stage 2-1 on aggregate and subsequently saw them relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup this month.

  2. Thats what happens when someone has nothing to say about something. But because he has been asked a question and a microphone put on his mouth , the nearest thing to talk about was zesco united? I didn’t know even football coaches mafontini let alone coming from south Africa.
