Nkana’s 2018/2019CAF Confederation Cup opponents San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire are determined not to leave Kitwe with a loss this Saturday.
San Pedro arrived on Tuesday afternoon in Ndola ahead of the pre-group stage first leg fixture at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on January 12.
The Ivorian upstarts are unbeaten in the competition with two wins and as many draws.
San Pedro come to Zambia on the back of a big kill in the second round in December when they shocked 1994 CAF Cup Winners Cup champion DC Motema Pembe of DR Congo who they held 1-1 away in Kinshasa in the first leg on December 15 before winning 2-0 at home in San Pedro on December 22.
“Of course the first leg is very important for us. We will try and get a good match on Saturday for us to give us confidence of getting a good result at home,” San Pedro coach Jani Tarek said upon arrival at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola.
“This is our first time in Zambia and our first experience in the Confederation Cup.
“We know that Nkana is a big team in Zambia and so have made special preparations for this match.”
The final leg is set for January 20 in the Cote d’Ivoire port town of San Pedro to determine who goes through to the group stage that kicks off on February 1.
Nkana were relegated to the Confederation cup after they were eliminated from the 2018/19 CAF Champions League pre-group stage in December by Simba SC of Tanzania.
