Ministry of livestock and fisheries says it intends to invest one million dollars in each aqua park in North-western Province.

Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Permanent Secretary David Shamulenge says government aims at investing in fish projects in the region to ensure that they contribute to national development.

Dr Shamulenge said the ministry will embark on making loans available for small, medium and large scale aqua farming in four districts in the province, which include Solwezi, Kasempa, Zambezi and Mwinilunga.

He said the ministry will also handover two motorbikes and a vehicle to motivate aqua farmers increase productivity.

Dr Shamulenge further requested the North-western Provincial Administration to monitor the project and avoid the misuse of funds.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on North-western Province Permanent Secretary Ephraim Mateyo in Solwezi today.

Meanwhile, Mr Mateyo expressed gratitude over the introduction of the project in the province, saying it foster development.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the facilities provided prudently, and enhance their livelihoods.
