Nkana on Saturday host San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire at home in Kitwe seeking to enhance their chances of qualifying to the group stage of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup.

The two teams are clashing heads in Wusakile in the first leg tie of the pre-group stage at 15h00.

‘We had a short run in the Champions League but thank God we are in the Confederation Cup where we have to redeem ourselves,’ Nkana Coach Beston Chambeshi said on Friday.

Nkana will miss suspended Kenya defender Musa Mohammed who accumulated two yellow cards in previous CAF Champions League matches.

‘The team is intact. Musa has been our regular player but we have worked on the replacement. Football is a collective thing so we cannot say we are handicapped,’ Chambeshi said.

Nkana were demoted to the Confederation Cup after exiting the Champions League at the pre-group stage.

Pedro coach Jani Tarek declared that his players were ready to preserve the name of the club and that of Ivorian football.

‘It makes us happy to play against a big team like Nkana. We came to try and play good match and to honour Ivorian football,’ Tarek said.

‘I cannot say how we will play or about tactics but we are determined to play our match with the heart,’ he said.

Pedro eliminated DR Congo giants DC Motema Pembe 3-1 on aggregate in the previous round.
