President Edgar Lungu has directed the Ministry of Health to evacuate People’s Party President Mike Mulongoti to South Africa for specialised treatment.

The Head of State has given the Ministry 48 hours to ensure that Mr. Mulongoti is evacuated for specialised treatment.

  1. Evacuate all patients in UTH, Levy Mwanawasa, and elsewhere in Zambia who have been in hospital for 10 days to South Africa. In the eyes of God, a life is a life regardless of political position.

    • See who is foolish now. Chishimba Kambwili! He refused such an offer and made it political. Was he really sick or he was scared?

    • So, why does this need to be at the discretion of the president and only for politicians? These people should have saved enough when they had those cushy ministerial jobs. And South Africa should not be taking our good money. It’s better to upgrade a wing at UTH that we commercialize and make available those in specific need of special help.

    • Stop this madness of evacuating. Nobody comes back alive after wasting resources.

Why can’t zambia train it’s own specialists. ifyabupuba

    • I bet the basturd now knows who holds the instruments of power.

These are the quacks who were calling him Jonathan Mutaware.

    • His wealthiest beloved friend, HH is mute. So, what is money for..? Ba bwana Mulongoti, please now learn from this. Ala president Chagwa muntu tewakuutuka lyonse. if you have differences, just advise each other.

    • You keep evacuating the same basturds who had chance and opportunity to improve UTH whilst they were lawmakers in power.

    • What’s wrong with our hospitals? Why is it that we are letting politicians to use our money to go to SA hospitals when tax payers are told to go to local hospitals?

    • So the president thinks he’s doing some great humanitarian gesture by ordering this. Yet we all know he just wants to score points. We can’t fail to see that this humanitarianism is very selective. I have a friend who raised his own money to go for cancer treatment abroad and lungu didn’t order any one to help him. Is this help reserved for hand picked victims whom the president loves?

    • Zero trust in your health system. Poor ordinary Zambian who is not a politician, no option but to die under the crapy healthy care system.
Even the SKULL, when things go wrong, it will end up in UTH. No evacuation, the ECL that it longs for doesn’t know it.
SHAME situation. No hard feelings about Mr. Mulongoti and I wish him well, but its the rotten system for the elite that I don’t like.

    • We know this dull Lazy Lungu ..we saw it with Chifire he knowingly watches you get arrested then pardons you to show you that he is a humble loving man…he has never answered Mulongoti’s allegations, this works with small hungry fish or Kapentas like Tayali.

    • Shameless country even the President has to go for a “routine” medical checkup outside the country…..this is amid claims of unprecedented development from a fanatical cadre

    • It has to made clear here that this is our tax money and this thing of comparing HH to Lungu in this situation is absurd, ilogical and out of place …Lungu has the mandate of how to best use our money which in essence he doesn’t own. So he has found the best way is to treat himself to routine medical checkup in Sandton and spinning a Russian Roulette on the next lucky ailing citizen whom he choses to “enjoy” some medical tourism he enjoys.

    • So Mr Kudos, you guys running the country take pride in evacs, Isn’t it a wonder why? I hope I will see a boast post about how you’ve improved facilities and specialist numbers. I look forward, 1000 plus ticks when you ever post that.

  2. Well done Mr. President, politics aside there’s nothing more important than the life of a human being. Wishing you a quick recovery Mr. Mulongoti.

    • there’s nothing more important than life
All lives are important. But some lives are more important than others. I have no problem with Mike being assist. I just want the gesture to touch all of us. Send all existing conditions Morning Side Clinic.

    • Why should some people get preferential treatment. Do they pay different tax from the rest of us! Do they pay in forex or what? Why should our President be in the forefront promoting blatant segregation like this? My Auntie passed on recently at UTH because she couldn’t get specialist treatment. Are we saying it is OK for her to have gone that way while others have to be hand picked. Better he doesn’t tell us next time he decides to do favours to his friends.

  3. Good gesture but I feel there are more who are really suffering who may also need this gesture. Please your Excellency extend to them as well not only politicians who have being living off our tax money for a long period of time.

  4. His rich alliance partner is conspicuously quiet!! He also neglected his deputy secretary general the late Simusamba. Mulongoti get well soon but know the nature of the people you are escorting to plot 1.

    • One thing one we must learn to do is give credit where it is due. ECL has done a commendable thing using public resources. On the other hand one HH whom, thank God, you guys are promoting indirectly is one of the major contributors to the public coffers! So who has paid for this evacuation and eventual treatment?

  5. That’s the spirit of love and Recouncilition in practice .Keep it up your Excellency. We wish honourable Mulongoti quick recovery.

  6. Mulongoti has money why can’t he use it? There so many patients at UTH who’s relatives have no one to turn to, and they’ve been dying day in day out.
When are voters going to learn? This current crop of politicians has continued to spend millions of Kwacha every single on medical tourism of higher class while the lower class is left to die in the dilapidated hospitals that the ruling PF govts boasts about it. If they’ve built hospitals why continue medical tourism?

  7. Evacuate the nicompoop to Santa Maria hospital on Chilubi island. ..otherwise let all of us go to RSA for treatment.

  8. It is now ten days since he entered the UTH and why I never head of it ’till today the devil knows. The bible teaches us to LOVE thy enemies. We love you Mulongoti even when you openly show dislike for some people without good reason. May the good Lord help you through.

  9. What does Mr Hichilema say? It is these moments that HH should sound like human and say” We aporeciate the gesture extended to one of those supporting my cause” but alas HH will be mute. How can dialogue take place when all they are going to talk about is nothing but to bring their friend (ECL) down?

    • You are very stupity. You are supposed to be fighting for your rights to have proper hospitals where all Zambians can get treatment. Why cant you improve your own hospitals?Thats the question you should be asking your leaders.I think that is what HH is fighting for not only for the privileged few…

    • Mr. Mulanga and the likes, all the time you think HH is bad. Mr. Hichilema has said nothing, and you drag him into this mess. Why do you have that “passion” of hate towards HH? Is this what it means to be a Christian Nation? This is why we Zambians who are educated have failed the nation. This is why Zambia is economically developing very slowly. We are suppose to bring comments to the table, when each of us figure out what is the best for our nation. We should debate intelligently, either for it or against it, not character assassination. Micaiah the prophet was smote on the cheek and put in jail for saying the fact while many prophets lied (2 Chronicles 18:14-23). The chances are 50 50 that the majority can be right or wrong. We value facts.

  10. Ati politics aside, kwisa????. You guys cannot read between the lines. This is pure political milage he is buying. The point is – I don’t think Mulongoti will come back and sing Jonathan is a foreigner! Unless he has refused to be evacuated and uses his own money. Politics and sickness te munobe. Learn utuntu baice.
What is saddening is using government resources to win political milage. Is it not just yesterday when Mulongoti was singing Jonathan foreigner – Jonathan foreigner!!!!
    Disaster!!!!

  11. So Jonathan Mutaware has done it for him!

People have to be honest, decent and sensible.

Only a sensible and mature person can do what President EC Lungu has done in this case.

    • KK built UTH for all to use including himself. Several decades later, we have people in power who don’t believe in themselves and in their people. They’d rather trust their lives in the hands of strangers. What a pity!

    • It is not Jonathan who done it from his pocket money .It the the people of Zambia who have done it using their hard earned tax payers cash .Chiseya seya has only issued some directive which could have been done by professionals in that field at UTH .This indictive of the fact that we lack the political will to develop our medical industry and heavily depend on South Africa for things we can do ourselves if only we had leaders with a vision not kaloba thieves .

  12. These out spoken politicians must learn to get medical insurance not just using our much needed cash to improve our local hospitals. When they are in office they are just eating without Thinking of there future.

  13. Call it what ever gesture (I am not opposed to any human’s life being saved – and quick recovery to him) but this is a clear populist move. To look ‘good and caring’, to score undeserved political accolades.
Beneath all this, is the exposure of the lack of a political will to improve our health system for the good of everyone. ECL himself was in SA for a medical review. The politicians, the well-offs and those with connections shall live – the ‘commoners’ (voters) shall continue to have their lives shortened in the corridors of ill equipped ‘health structures’; That’s the loud message.

  14. Stupid Zambians, hindsight comments and interesting in their banality and how they all seem paradoxically to exalt simultaneous stupidity.Instead of fighting to have improved proper Hospitals and Equipment where you can all be treated within your country…Here you are praising nonsense. What about the poor,Are you going to Evacuate them as well?…what a joke of a country! After 50yrs of Independence this nonsense is still happening and a typical Zambian cant see anything wrong with this…sad

  15. It’s political propaganda, when are Zambians going to wake up to this hippocrisy n condemn it n call for better equipment and stuff in local hospitals, we all know lung wu doesn’t really love mulongoti, he wants pipo to look at him and place him in the same true leadership and legendary echelon as the great Mwanawasa, we all know Lung wu is not and does not have a single ion in him of patriotism and fatherly love for any Zambian unconnected to him, including those of you that are being brainwashed by such shenanigans.

  16. A boy with needles in the body should also be evacuated to South Africa. This scheme benefits only politicians. I feel it is one way of appeasing each other as politicians. Tax payers money should be enjoyed by all citizens. It is pointless to woo support for each other as politicians minus citizens in your equation. There should be equal treatment for all citizens despite the background. That is mark of leaderships. There is too much segregation in the way medical access is being administered in the nation especially outside medical treatment. That boy with needles in the body has gone through great pain and needed tax payers money to cover his medical expenses outside the nation. Anyway, four legged animals are better than two.

  17. Mulongotu is actually a relative to Lungú hence the special treatment. Otherwise there are more serious and deserving cases which will just end up dying at the same hospital.

  18. 10 united needs medical check up. Next much will be crucial. Too much fat in the neck. He will be next for the same

  19. Kikikkkkkk mulongoti is not a nicaampoop, the original *****s are here on this forum, who in their eyes as long as Haluza hagain is not in state House, everything is bad! Lungu, even if we hate him, at least what he has done for Haluza hagian’s cadre will go along way!

  20. And this is the ka same Mike Mulongoti who calls ECL all sorts of names ka!!!I told you all that the nigga is damn broke. All the monies he corruptly got during Levy Mwanawasa are finished.Greedy HH cant help him to pay medical bills in SA-that is Kainde for you Zambians!!Kainde’s SG Mr.Chibwe died a poor man in UTH even his MP Muntanga did the same and the nigga claims to be rich-shocking stuff!!!
ANYWAY WELL DONE ECL FOR THE SPLENDID GESTURE TO MIKE MULONGOTI BUT YOU NEED TO HELP ALL SICK POOR ZAMBIANS UNLIKE ONLY HELPING YOUR FELLOW POLITICIANS!!WE ARE TIRED OF THIS NONSENSE!!!If anything,Mulongoti still has relatives who can pay for his medical bills.POOR SICK ZAMBIANS ARE THE ONES YOU NEED TO HELP MOST SIR!!!get well soon broke Mulongoti!!

    • so ubomba mwibala nindalam za’nyina he “gracefully” throw around? where does the constitution ALLOW him to play with OUR money? custard!!

  21. They need to invest all this money into making UTH and other hospitals better. Cut ministers and MPs salaries and pay Zambian doctors better.

  22. nothing to say when I don’t have salt, mealie meal, relish just cassava I eat to live. I eat unknown things to live and not to enjoy life. A great sufferer I am.

  23. Could we ask that the Mines as part of their CSR policy pay for the health of all government staff. Since they get so much help from them to circumvent their way taxes?

  24. Politics of appeasement. …ubupuba. That’s why South Africans look down upon us, foolish politicIans who can’t build a specialised hospital for fellow crooks at least

  25. Very nice Mr. President, I adore you, that’s the kind of spirit the head of a political party should possess and lead. Get well soon Bwana Mulongoti so that you continue with your commentaries.

  26. Politicians will always be politicians. While cadres are busying fighting these guys will be using our money to scratch one another’s backs regardless of their perceived political differences.

  27. This great stupidity of misusing tax payers cash should come to an end. Just how many people are dying in hospital now and need that evacuation. Stupidity and politics of appeasement at its worst.
These fools are just devils. Fools you can like to hate….
God help us die in peace at UTH.
    Disaster!!!!

  28. We voted for PF because PF was singing that it will build or turn some wings at UTH into specialized wards, meaning that no more sending leaders to South African to treatment. And that the specialized hospital will be available to all Zambians. PF condemned MMD for not building a specialized hospital. It is now 7 years since PF came to power and there is no specialized hospital in Zambia. Being taken to South African for treatment by the government is for the leaders only. Of course, it is good to be sent for specialized treatment, but not for ordinary Zambians? We have 156 elected MPs, in total 166 MPs who are doing nothing in their power to get the specialized wings or hospital be built in the country to cater for everyone.

  29. This is very frustrating! When are we going to have ethical political leaders who will realise that such selective access to enhanced medical services outside of the country is 1. A drain national coffers, which could instead be used to improve medical services across the board. 2. A real insult to national integrity that decades after independence we cannot have invested in s priority sector like health. Just this week we have heard ECL was in SA for specialist treatment, Dept Ary commander was in India for the same (and unfortunately died there…quite ironic) and now Mulongoti will be off to SA also. Just with funds spent on these to health missions I am pretty sure it is possible to set up a high-end VIP health wing with the equipment and specialists either at Maina Soko or UTH. If…

  30. If the president so wished he can then order that those he wishes, including himself, utilise such a facility at taxpayers cost and for those private individuals who can afford they pay for themselves. At least we would be keeping the resources in the country and allow more people and not just a few politically connected to enjoy the specialist services. Will also save us the national shame of having our politicians dying abroad and the whole president going a health check-up in other countries!!

  31. Romans 12:21 King James Version (KJV)

No matter how many lies and insults an evil man throws at you, when he is in trouble, just help him. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Always endeavor not to retaliate but to do good to them. Come 2021, our God who surprise them.

  32. Weaponizing medical care! This is very very sick and shame on you mr lungu!
Why should the decision to send someone for more specialized care come from the president? isn’t there a board which gets recommendations from the treating doctors?? your end sir will be very bad

    • What is chipantepante in Tonga? It is funny how thw UPND uses Bemba to make a point incuding using Bemba in its adverts but at the same time encouranges its members not to speak Bemba as was case with the Clinical Officer in SP. Any Mwanawasa set a precedent when he evacuated his arch enemy MCS to RSA and became good friends thereafter.

  33. GBM and Kambwili must rethink their positions, uyu HH that you have aligned to is a dangerous snake. Remember how he used to demean lste President Sata MHSRIP and yet this is the man you are helping to gain some votes? Bushe are you yourselves or something terribly has gone wrong in your heads? Just pose abd and rethink sirs.

    • They are bittér. Anything that is anti lungu is their spice. They think they can buy their way into Government. 2021 will be hot but the elite Zambians will adjudicate.

  34. The politicians are liabilities, they don’t save money when in politics and expect the government to pay all their medical bills. What about a common man who has been a politician? We can reduce government expenditure by becoming responsible citizens. On the other hand, the government should acquire medical equipment and other resources so that treatments can be conducted locally.Invest in health and contract experts

  35. I was young now an old I have never head of any president from the outside works been evacuated to Zambia why? This means that we don’t have specialist in this country and do not have good and attractive health facilities. So then why should the government of PF boast that they are building universities where we can’t get specialists? I morn for this country.we have no medicine in these poor hospitals so if you are not a politician you die at the expense of PF poor health service policies. We need a government which will consider every human life to be important. Pf you are now proving to me that you are a failed party. Because if you are a party in action you could have worked on this hospitals so that Zambians acquire better medical services not in south Africa.

  36. The most important my brothers and sisters in each persons life is to have JESUS CHRIST in your heart. Whether you are treated in India, South Africa, United Kingdom or UTH, Kitwe Teaching Hospital or Chipata General Hospital etc. and they bring the best Doctors on earth if you don’t have JESUS CHIST in your heart, you are nothing. Rich or poor, fat or slim, black or white: The most important thing is to believe in JESUS CHRIST.

    • Even Jesus expects us to do that which is humanly possible. Eg. Jesus asked the people to remove the stone at Lazarous’ tomb not because he couldn’t with his might but because that is a task humans can do. We need to build our own specialist hospitals because we can.

  37. In life there are certain things we don’t have to play with…regardless of what. Politics is just a business and anybody can do it…. Whoever is smart surely obtains the presidency, but when coming to reality…. It’s good to take things into considerations and do the right thing. What Edgar Lungu has done is good regardless of what criteria one may use to criticise him. No matter what we do and the Kind of business systems we encounter and engage ourselves into…. We end up being human beings… and we need assistance from one another.

  38. Who poisoned Mike Mulongoti?
Botched OP operation? Evacuation to departure lodge for sure successful outcome?
What illness that we cannot treat in Zambia? Refuse and move him to secure medical service.
    Our brother is at risk.
Wishing our brother a quick recovery.
We need his contributions next week at that meeting.

  39. EL has the opporunity to invest in the healthcare so that every Zambian can have access to quality healthcare. Mulongoti was in govt and failed to contribute to the improvement of the healthcare in the country. Non of these politicians deserve a better life and treatment than the people who they should be serving. Imagine the whole lot of Mulongoti has got no healthcare insurance to take care of him or perhaps he cannot afford it, what more the poor majority Zambians who have never walked the corridors of power. This trend of transporting selected patients abroad for political mileage should really be revised unless EL is paying from his loot and not the coffers of the govt. Please improve the healthcare for all to benefit instead!

  40. Good gesture by His Excellence ! One thing that every Jim & Jack are missing is that all these amenities at display would have been easily accessible by the majority citizenry only if we had the Majority of us stepped up for the referendum unlike what happened. Who ever made falsehood to appear true during that time we were voting where the referendum was turned down should be feeling ashamed by now. All the poor and well meaning Zambians would have been the rightful beneficiaries of all the cited amenities only if the Referendum has pulled through. Think twice my fellow Zambians as an opportunity was lost here. Howbeit, the Govt gave us a second chance would we still vote the same way as last time? T
