Kafue Town Council condemned for allowing brothels to operate freely

A Youth Organisation in Kafue has condemned the Kafue Town Council for allowing brothels to operate freely in the area.

Youths of Influence Executive Director Moses Daka has wondered why Kafue Town council is allowing well known brothels to operate in the district.

Mr. Daka has lamented that efforts being made by various stakeholders in combating HIV/AIDS risk yielding nothing for as long as brothels are allowed to operate freely in Kafue.

He noted that allowing brothels to operate freely is a major contributing factor to the high HIV preference rate in Kafue.

“You can’t tell me that KTC isn’t aware that some of these apartments are no longer lodges but brothels, sex workers have invaded Kafue like army worms in our maize fields. We appeal to KTC to move in and close these sex dens with the same vigour they use to apprehended people who vend in streets and close shops without licenses”, Mr. Daka said

He urged the council to engage the Zambia Police and carry out an operation in order to bring sanity in the district.

  1. Its a free market economy. Zambia’s economy is destined for better things. It is good to see Zambians also participating .

  2. This country lacks direction, its stuck in the middle of being a christian nation or a secular nation.

  3. WALYA KAKE ALIYE MULANDU I GO PAY WILLINGLY AND EAT WHAT BELONGS TO ME WHY CLOSE THEM WHEN CIVILIZED NATIONS LIKE UK CHINA JAPAN HAVE THEM INFACT I JUST CAME BACK FROM PAYING AND DOING IT FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE SIDE WHICH I CANT TO MY WIFE

  4. These people are using initiative to survive in this hard economy instead of stealing. These are some of the jobs which the government has created.

  5. Meanwhile Parliament Motel is operating freely …I like the UK approach to this issue ie brothels ..the councils, police know about them its not illegal. Its a fine line…A brothel is any premises, including a private flat or massage parlour, which is used by more than one worker (either male or female) for prostitution.
If just one individual sells sex in a particular building, it is not a brothel.
Are brothels legal in the UK?
Prostitution itself is legal in England and Wales.
However, soliciting in public, kerb crawling, pimping, and owning or managing a brothel are all crimes.
