Zesco United have qualified to the group stage of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup following a 5-2 aggregate win over South African side Kaiser Chiefs in the play-off.
Zesco advanced on Saturday night after stunning Chiefs 2-1 away at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in the return match of the pre-group stage.
Kenyans Anthony Akumu and Jesse Were were the scorers for Zesco on the night with Khama Billiat netting the lone goal for the sleeping giants of Soweto.
Zesco led after 10 minutes with Akumu scoring the opener while Were’s goal came in the 70th minute and Billiat scored in stoppage time of the last half.
Advancing further in this competition comes as consolation for Zesco who were last month eliminated from the Champions League by TP Mazembe.
Meanwhile, the Confederation Cup group stage matches starts early in February.
