Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced that the body of late former Republican Vice President Lupando Mwape will arrive in Zambia this Friday, January 25, 2019.

Dr. Msiska said in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka that the body of the late Mr. Mwape is expected to arrive aboard a South African Airways plane at the ZAF Lusaka Base, at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 15:20 hours.

Mr. Mwape died on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Arwyp Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.

President Edgar Lungu has since accorded the late former Vice President a state funeral and declared three days national mourning from Saturday January 26 to Monday, January 28, 2019 when he will be put to rest.

Dr. Msiska said the three-day period of national mourning will be observed from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours during which all flags will fly at half-mast while programmes of entertainment nature on both radio and television should be cancelled or postponed.

He said the funeral programme of the late Vice President will start with a Requiem church service at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus in Long Acres at 09:00 hours and end with a burial at the Leopard Memorial Park in Lusaka.

The funeral of the late Mr. Mwape is being held at plot number 2751/M/C, off Leopards Hill Road after the American International School in New Kasama in Lusaka.

  2. How can the President accord a 3 days of national mourning when it is a constitutional provision for former Vice Presidents.

  3. Time to rethink our health infrastructure development policies. Engage the Zambians abroad with ideas, so that you stop wasting so much money on taking moribund people abroad. Please, reflect on this.

  4. May the lord God grant our Father, Eternal Rest. Sorry for those politicising the death our beloved Father. Indeed Zambia is not a small country interms of Health standards, please Health Minister make adjustments, we know your potential! A presidential Hospital is posible in zambia.

  5. May he rest well in the favour of God Almighty. Bless his family with the grace of peace.

    Although we moaned and groaned about airlifting him abroad at least now we can sign relief that he died knowing Zambia had honoured him for his works for us. It is good to give Love.

    • Oh……and Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska, will be missed for his infinitesimal service in the role. As Head of Atomic something of Zambia, he will uphold Brilliance on the sector. God Bless him and thank you Sir for your shining example whilst serving in the highest Office.

      His Excellency, President Lungu, will surely miss your polished performance.
