Democratic Party President Harry Kalaba has insisted that Zambia’s Ambassador designate to the USA Lazarous Kapambwe was asked to come back from Washington by that country on a reciprocity of mishandling of Ambassador Foote’s issue by the President and Foreign affairs Minister and team.
Mr Kalaba has questioned why Ambassador Kapambwe was told to come back after spending a month in Washington and after being told to prepare for presentation of his letters of credence to President Donald Trump on 7th February 2020.
He has further challenged Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji to explain to the nation how long it takes to process a visa for anyone going to the US, let alone a diplomatic visa.
Mr Kalaba has expressed reservation of the current state of Zambia’s international standing and has called on President Edgar Lungu and his regime to approach governance, diplomacy and international relations with the deserved seriousness.
He urged the government to use Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations Studies to guide when unsure, since ministry of foreign affairs technocrats can no longer advise them.
Addressing the media on the state of the nation, Mr Kalaba said Zambia has had a vintage position in diplomacy and international relations which President Lungu and his team are bent on destroying with impunity.
Lungu has failed Zambia!
This looks to be kalabas only remaining seemly competence and thinks the foreigners will bring bread and butter on the table of Zambians! Come on, give us a break, we shall not be baby sitting criminals in the name diplomats.

Shame on you Kalaba, you seem to be happy that this has happened, if at all it has. Where is your patriotism as a Zambian? In this day and age the best Kalaba can do is provide a link for that state dept statement or just shut up as the Ministry will just deny it …these issues are not secret and there is no shame in the US publicly stating it, look at the way Lungu was swift in handling Foote now compare that to this gassing issue that his killing his citizens due mob justice, its only a matter of time before they start calling him to step down.
US should chase that ambassador no wonder they moved the other guy to the UN as he was not doing anything in his office.

Why are we all fighting about this? The only person who knows the true situation is the Ambassador himself. Since he is back in Zambia, why can’t the media call on him to verify this story: Was he expelled or sent back to process his visa? However, true with Kalaba’s statement, the diplomatic visa should not take that long to process as this guy was already staying in New York as Zambian UN Ambassador, so most of his background most already have been verted by the US government. Anyways to truth will come out in the near future
