President Edgar Lungu has urged people of Chilubi swamps to vote for the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate, Rosemary Chimbini in this week’s Council Chairperson by-election slated for Thursday, October 22, 2020.

President Lungu noted that voting for Ms Chimbini is voting for continued development that is currently taking place in the district.

He explained that the late council Chairperson was PF and has left a number of developmental projects that are targeted at changing the face of the area.

The President said this can only be achieved if people will replace him with another PF member who understands the party’ stance on development.

Speaking when he addressed a public meeting at Mayuka Primary School in Chilubi Island, President Lungu said the PF government has delivered development in all parts of the country.

“Right now PF is in power and will be in power even after next year’s elections because we have delivered, our works speaks for itself, where ever you go you will see development. So be part of the winning team by voting for Rosemary Chimbini on Thursday,” he stated.

He explained that Ms Chimbini is the best candidate for the position of council Chairperson having served in government before as Lunga District Commissioner.

President Lungu also advised elected leaders against neglecting the electorates, stating that 2021 is near and leaders will be judged according to the way they performed and treated people who voted for them.

” Don’t forget the people that are employing you by voting you in to these offices, like next year time will come when they will judge you, decide whether to vote for you or not, so please let’s do our best when given these opportunities to serve the people,” he advised.

PF Secretary General, Davis Mwila encouraged the residents to turn up in numbers to register as voters when the mobile issuance of voters’ cards starts on October 28, 2020.

And PF candidate, Rosemary Chimbini has pledged to work hard and foster equal distribution of development in both the island and the mainland of Chilubi district.

President Lungu is in Chilubi district to drum up support for PF candidate in the Thursday’s Council Chairperson by-election.

Four political parties are vying for the seat and these include the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) who have filled in Rosemary Chimbini, People’s Alliance for Change(PAC) have Mark Mpundu, Risto Mushembe is standing on the United Party for National Development (UPND) ticket while United Peaceful and Prosperous Zambia has Standford Chikuma.

    • He flies and he is told that that is the road between Mwinilunga and Chipata. Drunk, he responds “Yes we have linked the two towns”
I live in Ndola and have a business in Mufulira. I have to drive between the two via Kitwe! Theres no road between the two but Welensky left a road.

  1. Is this guy called Edgar Lungu aware that there is fuel shortage in Zambia!?

Why can’t issue a directive to release fuel from strategic reserves that is what people want to hear and know?

    PF must go!

  2. Lungu , Even my garden boy looking after my house back home can build those developments if given billions in borrowed money ………Lungu,

But he can do better than you…he would have spent that money on sustainable job creating development.

  3. Look at this lungu everybody……..

Showing off about development for which he has failed to payback the borrowed money and failed to provide jobs…

Lungu is like a farmer who borrows money to buy a farm , then invested in wrong crops, bankrupting the farm…..
Then he goes on to boast about having a farm……..

The man is hopeless , totally useless.
Not an ounce of embarrassment at depleting forigne reserves and failing to payback the money he borrowed..

  5. Can we, for a change — in 54 years — make a radical change to what we call “development” please? This idea that a political leader will speak of development during electioneering and speak in future tense, directives and threats is very yesteryear. Let’s empower our people and raise their standards so that our politics become increasingly issue-based and not party-posturing. Those of you in politics today must count yourselves lucky. We will change the landscape so that mediocrity will be id.iot-proofed in the near future.

  7. Those with eyes will see around them what pf has done. Unprecedented levels of development. My president doesn’t even need to ask the constituents to vote for the candidate because we already know we have won this. However my president is humble hence the request

  8. what ever one says about Dungu, one just has to look at the degradation of law and order, corruption, confusion of all administrative institutions to make them think only Power Failure are Chambians and the rest are not, only these things will make you see weather there is leadership or not, and having another five years with this kind of mediocrity is suicide to all Chambians regardless of political affiliation and the gendarme still has the strength to dance during campaigns while the local currency is approaching 30

  9. PF has delivered corruption, theft of public funds and suppression of freedoms of speech, assembly, movement and association of the opposition. They are on the verge of failure to pay back funds they borrowed for the so called massive infrastructure development

  11. If there is no agreement by November 14, the interest payment that’s due the bond holders will request for full payment of the principle.

Does this lungu understand the consequences. Why should he, the thief had stolen truck loads of money.

Once PF is out UNDP need to overhaul the police/judiciary and freeze lungu and his minions bank accounts. This also includes KZ. As we all know properties have been purchased abroad.

All the looted wealth collected can go towards paying this debt

  14. Fuel shortage is meant to stop people escorting HH to Mpika- sorry the beans is spilled. KZ tell them the truth that you and I know.

  15. @Grace Linyandile: are you sure about statement “we are not fools”. I don’t think you can look in the mirror and agree with the statement. In 2021 we will demonstrate our level of …… again as a country.

  16. That’s all he does. Galivanting around the country and claiming ‘development’ or promising – especially when an election of some sort is due. An ‘entire’ leader who campaigns for even grassroot positions when there are huge socio-economic issues to resolve on his desk at State House.
You only have to leave the line of rail and travel around these other rural areas served by roads to understand the extent of these lies about ‘development’. Even if there were major infrastructure developments in these outlaying areas (which there aren’t) they would still not qualify as ‘development’ under the human development index. Far below and desperate. You can’t even keep blaming previous governments when you have done nothing meaningful yourselves over 9 years – in a lot of areas even…

  17. Development measurements are centred on people. How their livelihoods have improved in a sustainable manner through their involvement in improved economic activities. A peasant farmer who sees inputs increasing in price in leaps and bounds each year while prices of his produce determined by FRA are kept low and then those close to leadership get contracts to export and make millions out the sweat of the poor peasants. We call this exploitation.
