UPND Labels Munir Zulu as a Paid Political Mercenary

Share

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused Hon. Munir Zulu, the Independent Member of Parliament for Lumezi, of being a paid political mercenary sent to undermine the good works of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND-led government.

Speaking to journalists, UPND Deputy National Youth Chairman Trevor Mwiinde expressed disappointment in Hon. Zulu’s failure to provide evidence to back up his allegations after the ultimatum he had given.

“Members of Parliament are called Honourables because they are supposed to conduct themselves in such a manner. When Hon. Munir Zulu gave that press briefing and gave the challenge of 24 hours, we thought he would do the honourable thing and act within that timeframe.

However, we are shocked that after both Ministers and the ACC responded, Hon. Zulu has remained quiet. What he has done is demeaning the Honourable position that society has given to him,” said Mwiinde.

Mwiinde went on to accuse Hon. Zulu of being a paid political mercenary, stating that his failure to provide evidence was a clear indication that he was not acting in the interest of the country.

“Our brother Munir Zulu has failed to live up to the standards of being called Honourable by failing to give evidence after his own given 24-hour ultimatum. Due to that, we are convinced that he is a paid political mercenary sent to frustrate the good works of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND-led government,” said Mwiinde.

Mwiinde has also called upon Zambians to ignore all prophets of doom, including paid mercenaries like Zulu, who he says do not mean well for the country. He has urged Zambians to support the developmental agenda being spearheaded by President Hichilema and the UPND-led government.

“We would like to warn them that they won’t manage. What they are trying to do is just a storm in a tea cup,” Mwiinde said.

In response to these accusations, Hon. Munir Zulu has not yet made any public statements. It remains to be seen whether he will provide evidence to back up his allegations or respond to the accusations of being a paid political mercenary.

  2. Why are you saying a “Paid Political Mercenary”? He works. The PF pays him. Dont all parties pay their cadres to make noise? Or does UPND allow some of its members to be paid as “mercenaries”? Perhaps that explains HH’s trips to the US? To get payment as a mercenary?

  3. Munir Zulu spoke on behalf of APNAC, the institution that received the information about bank transfers that were made. Such transactions leave a trail, unlike the illegal suigilite proceeds. I’m shocked by the personal attacks on Munir by the entire UPND machinery that includes their President. Why don’t they give chance to Milupi and Situmbeko to defend themselves. Why has Munir been summoned by ACC and ZP? Are they trying to silence him? I maintain that HH isn’t as clever as he projects himself

    • Ayatollah…Muir should be careful because he might be killed to silence him. These summons by the police are not normal. Muir made an allegation against an individual and as such it’s that individual who should take Muir to court for slander. And why would HH instruct Musokotwane to sue Muir as if Musokotwane cannot do it without being told. This is not normal.

    • Tarino Orange I have lived longer than you I presume. We saw it happen to Paul Tembo….he was going to open a can of worms on the MMD but was found shot dead the following day.

    • Deja Vu – Please dont dare compare the brutal FTJ MMD era of chemical assasins and hit squads masquarading as armed robbers who he used to take out opponents. Alot of prominent politicians were eliminated and anyone who so dared shown ambition or political threat within MMD was taken out. Lt. Gen. Christon Tembo was lucky after he fail out with FTJ due to his miltary training and awareness he parked his car by the road side hid in the bush with his pistol when he was followed by a hit squad.

  4. Mr Mwiinde please take a deep breath before you speak about something that you don’t understand. How do you know Muir hasn’t got the evidence. Suppose he’s holding an ace up his sleeve and will only expose it when he’s very sure your Upnd cannot tamper with it. Use your brains… the allegation made by Muir is so huge that a normal person cannot make them without even an iota of evidence. Hope you won’t change your stance when the right time comes.

  5. This is just Phd syndrome. UPND is fast becoming a cult with intolerance to anything progressive. Munir is pressing them on issues eloquently and they don’t like that.

  6. What type of article is this where you dont give a background of the story or what he said…UPND is simply just going towards PF setting where you have cadres issuing threats its only a matter of time before they have a miltary wing to hammer people with different views.

  7. The story has now taken a different trajectory of seeking protection as ‘whistle blower’, than bring evidence of alleged corruption by Hon Dr Musokotwane and Mr Milupi. Munir Zulu gave an ultimatum of within 24 hours to let ACC inform the nation about the alleged corruption in his press conference. 24 Hours has passed 7 days since his threats. Munir will not and can not produce any evidence. As a principled individual which he tries to demonstrate under APNAC, he simply needed to lay bare all the evidence he has over this case and the public would be behind him

  8. kkkkkkkk just work on your home work and do the right thing for the first time. Can ACC please be professional or else ACC will be caught up in this web.Zambians are not fools, they are just watching.

    • Latest is that Muir has told the ACC that since they don’t want to act he’s going to prosecute the case as a private citizen.
