Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu says the Government remains committed to working with the Church to address many issues affecting the society.
Mr Nkandu was speaking this morning when he attended mass at St Mark Parish in Isoka District in Muchinga Province.
The Minister who contributed a K10, 000 towards the welfare of the church explained that the church has been a force for good in many aspects of development.
He further called on the Christians, the church and government leaders to practice an open door policy that will help bring development.
“If you become approachable as leaders many people will always approach you and offer help,” he said.
He added that the government and the church are partners and not in competition adding that development can only be attained if both government and the church complement each other.
And St. Mark Evangelist Assistant Parish Priest Fr Mark Chitamaluka thanked the Minister for taking time to pray with the faithful of Isoka District.
Fr Chitamaluka stated that the contribution by the Minister towards the welfare of the church will go a long way in responding to the challenges the church is faced with.
“This contribution is a life serving machine to our church and we thank you so much,” he said.
The Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu in the company of the Provincial Minister for Muchinga, Njavwa Simutowe, Mfuwe area Member of Parliament (MP) Malama Mufunelo and Isoka MP Marjorie Nakaponda, including Isoka District Commissioner, Jairo Simbeye among others is this afternoon expected to empower the young people with grants, motorbikes and sports kits in Isoka district.
