Senior Chief Kambombo of the Senga people in Chama District has condemned the unruly behavior of individuals in Chingola District that led to the disruption of President Hakainde Hichilema’s address at Chiwempala Market.
The traditional leader described the riotous acts as uncalled for, urging citizens to uphold peace and respect for authority.
Chief Kambombo said Zambia is a Christian nation where any grievances should be addressed through dialogue rather than disorderly conduct.
He strongly condemned the actions of those involved in last week’s incident, emphasizing that such behavior tarnishes the country’s image.
And Chama South Member of Parliament, Davison Mung’andu, echoed the chief’s sentiments and urged President Hichilema to remain steadfast in the fight against illegal mining despite possible resistance.
The media reports that following the incident, a cross-section of citizens have joined in condemning the act, while others have extended apologies to the Head of State.

I agree with the Chief. But he should have also condemned the UPND cadres when ECL was chased from Chingola by UPND cadres as well as when UPND cadres threatened and insulted the former head of state with circumcision. This message also goes to the clearly partisan clergy on the Copperbelt who have clearly abandoned their role of preaching salvation and very politically active – very visible. They can not hide it anymore, they just condemn one side and the country is sliding deep into division. We want one Zambia one Nation.
But Frank Bwalya in his statement said what happened in Chingola was a small and isolated incident
