Mundubile Calls for Urgent Police Deployment After Lubinda Incident

Patriotic Front senior official Brian Mundubile has reported that Acting PF President Given Lubinda was allegedly abducted and assaulted in Kabwe during a meeting with party structures on Wednesday. Delivering a national address in Lusaka, Mundubile said the PF had received what he described as disturbing reports concerning Lubinda’s safety.

According to Mundubile, Lubinda was meeting PF officials as part of the party’s internal mobilisation ahead of its intra-party processes and next year’s general elections. He said the gathering was disrupted by individuals identified as suspected United Party for National Development supporters, who allegedly forced their way into the venue.

Mundubile said the group attacked Lubinda and several party officials who were with him, before forcing Lubinda into a pickup and leaving the scene. He added that details of the vehicle had been submitted to police for further verification. He described the incident as a violation of constitutional freedoms, including the right to assemble, associate and engage in internal political activities.

He said the ruling party had no role in PF internal affairs and questioned why the meeting had been targeted. Mundubile argued that Lubinda had not committed an offence by addressing his party’s structures. He said the PF viewed the incident as part of a broader pattern of attacks, claiming that abductions and politically related assaults had become more frequent in recent months.

Mundubile appealed directly to President Hakainde Hichilema, saying the Head of State must take responsibility and ensure that Lubinda and the others were located quickly. He said the Inspector-General of Police acts on the President’s authority and should deploy officers immediately to secure all affected individuals. Mundubile urged the police to move swiftly and restore confidence in public safety.

  1. This is by far the worst government this country has had. Well, maybe chiluba was worse. But this one is full of psychopathic, egomainiacs whose heads are full of megalomiac ambitions, and no patriotism at all
