Police in Isoka investigates attempted murder case

have launched investigations into a case of attempted murder in which a 37 year old woman was hacked with an axe by her boyfriend.

In a press statement made available to the media in Isoka this morning, Muchinga Police Commanding Officer, Dennis Moola, confirmed the incident, saying the attack happened after the suspect allegedly found the victim with another man.

“The suspect, George Ngambi, armed himself with an axe and inflicted multiple deep cuts on the victim’s head, face and ear,” Mr Moola stated.

He said officers rushed to the scene after a report was filed by the victim’s sister, adding that the officers found the woman unconscious.

Mr Moola said the victim was later rushed to Isoka District Hospital and her condition is critical.

The Commanding Officer added that the suspect, who sustained injuries after being beaten by a mob, was treated as an outpatient and is now in custody.

“An axe believed to have been used in the attack has been recovered,” he said.

Mr Moola further warned the public against engaging in mob justice.

“No matter the circumstances, taking the law into your own hands is a crime,” he said.

Mr Moola further urged the public to always report such incidents to the police immediately they happen.

He stated that a docket has been opened as investigations into the matter continue.
