Government switches on 4 network towers in Kapiri

GOVERNMENT has commissioned four new network towers in Kapiri Mposhi, bringing long-awaited relief to residents who for years have struggled with poor connectivity.
The towers, built by IHS Towers are expected to transform business transactions, mobile money services, and everyday communication for thousands of residents across the district.
Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati said the towers were a direct response to community complaints.
“I have been sent here by the President of the Republic of Zambia after hearing the complaints of our people in Kapiri Mposhi on bad network. We engaged our colleague IHS Towers to put up these towers for you the people of Kapiri because for so long you’ve faced bad network services.” said Mutati
“It will now be easy for marketers, business men and women to make transactions while doing business, sending and receiving money. And for a larger community to communicate with their friends and family without any interruption.” he added
District Commissioner Francis Hasalama said the poor network had long frustrated the people of Kapiri, especially farmers.    “In Kapiri we have had a very big problem with the network. Farmers have really been suffering. Even when we tried to pay them, most of the areas where they come from had no signal, and the system could not work. But now, with the coming of these towers, that will be a thing of the past. Thank you, Minister, for hearing our cry as the people of Kapiri,” said Hasalama
He added that the towers would help bring the district into modern times.
“Today most business is done on the phone, on the network. Without it, we remain stuck in remote areas and in the old times. Your assistance in bringing these towers will truly help my people in the district.
IHS Towers representative said the new sites were designed with modern technology to give Kapiri residents reliable service. The towers, built of galvanized steel and fitted with Airtel antennas, will allow people to make calls, conduct business, and access data services more easily.
“These towers were commissioned because of the needs of the people around. Already, about 7,000 residents are enjoying better services thanks to this site,” he said.
He explained that the equipment is powered by generators supported by advanced lithium-ion batteries, which help reduce environmental impact. He added that solar panels will soon be installed to make the towers even more sustainable.
For residents, the towers are more than steel and batteries, they are a bridge to the rest of Zambia.
Rachel, a resident expressed her gratitude.
“We used to suffer. Sometimes you send money and it doesn’t go, or you try to call your child and the phone is just dead. Today, I can stand here and talk without shouting. This is what we wanted. Thank you to the government for remembering us.” she said
