Youths counselled to rise above challenges

Lusaka Province Minister, Sheal Mulyata has called on youths to rise above challenges and take advantage of opportunities created by the government.

Ms Mulyata says the theme ‘Arise and Soar’ clearly speaks to courage in the face of unemployment, resilience in the face of adversity and determination in the pursuit of education and innovation.

She emphasised that youths must stand up with confidence to reject corruption and actively participate in national development.

Speaking at the Youth Day celebrations in Lusaka, Ms Mulyata highlighted that government recognises that for one to soar, the right environment must exist.

“Youths you have to be responsible to uphold integrity, to respect the rule of Law, to protect public resources,” she said.

And United Nations Resident Coordinator, Beatrice Mutali, in a speech read on her behalf by UNICEF Country Representative, Saja Abdullah praised Zambian youths for their spirit, determination and innovation.

She said the theme “Arise and Soar”, serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in Zambia’s youth and recognising the significant contributions they make in shaping the country’s future.

She emphasised the theme’s significance, urging young people to overcome challenges and unleash their full potential.

“This year’s theme is especially powerful. It encourages young people to rise above challenges and to use their strengths, talents, and imagination to achieve their fullest potential,” she stated.

Meanwhile, speaking at the same function, Acting ZANACO Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kalengo Simukoko reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to uplifting young people through youth focused programmes and extending financial access that ensure young people take part in the country’s economy.
