Zambia Must Prosper Party (ZMP) President Kelvin Bwalya, alongside his running mate, Milner Katolo, has successfully filed their nominations at the Presidential Nomination Centre at Mulungushi International Conference Centre, ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking shortly after submitting his nomination, Mr Bwalya commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the high level of professionalism exhibited during the nomination process.
He expressed that the move is encouraging and must be maintained throughout the election period.
“We are glad that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has been professional in its execution of duties,” he said.
Mr Bwalya, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr Mary Bwalya, and other party officials, further extended his message of condolences to all Catholics and Zambians for the death of Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Lusaka, Most Reverend Telesphore Mpundu.
Meanwhile, Bishop’s Council of Zambia President, Martin Silwamba, has condemned acts of violence, stressing that as a Christian nation, Zambia must walk in the path of love and peace.
Bishop Silwamba urged all political leaders to ensure they relay the message of peace and love to their supporters, as they are all brothers.
He called on the church and political parties to foster coexistence, as promoted by President Hakainde Hichilema.
Bishop Silwamba assured that the church’s mother body will continue to preach peace and pray for the country before, during, and after the elections.
So far, seven presidential aspirants have successfully filed their nominations ahead of the August 13, 2026, general elections.
