Two UPND councilors go unopposed in Manyinga

Two United Party for National Development (UPND) aspiring ward councilor candidates in Manyinga District of North Western Province have gone unopposed after no other candidates filed nomination papers during the filing process.

At Chifuwe North Nomination Centre, Machayi Fundulu was declared duly elected after emerging as the sole candidate to successfully file in nomination papers for the position of ward councilor under the UPND ticket.

Meanwhile, at Kalinyiki Nomination Centre, UPND aspiring councilor candidate for Sikufele Ward Simon Fundulu also went unopposed after no other aspiring candidates filed nomination papers before the close of the nomination exercise.

The development means the two candidates have automatically secured their positions as ward councilors for Chifuwe North and Sikufele wards respectively, ahead of the forthcoming August 13 general elections.

Election officials at the respective nomination centres confirmed that no other candidates submitted nomination papers for the two wards during the nomination period.

The two will retain their seats with effect from August 13, 2026.
