Three aspiring candidates for the position of Council Chairperson in Manyinga District have successfully filed in their nomination papers ahead of the forthcoming August 13 general elections.
Independent aspiring candidate Bernard Kamboyi became the first candidate to successfully file his nomination papers at exactly 09:10 hours when the nomination centre officially opened its doors to aspiring candidates.
Another independent aspiring candidate, Given Kamalamba, also successfully filed his nomination papers later in the day becoming the second candidate to complete the nomination process.
Meanwhile, the ruling UPND candidate Doris Ding’ombi successfully filed her nomination papers at 14:50 hours amid support from party members and sympathisers who gathered at the civic centre.
District Electoral Officer Gift Sakanyi declared all the aspiring candidates to have validly filed in their nomination papers after successfully meeting the nomination requirements.
The nomination exercise was conducted peacefully under the supervision of election officials at the Manyinga Civic Centre nomination centre.
