President Hakainde Hichilema has revealed that Copper production this year is expected to reach about one million tons which will generate over 14 billion United States dollars.
President Hichilema has attributed this to his administration’s reforms which have led to the revival of the Mines and contributed to economic recovery.
The President has since pledged to continue working hard in order to lower the cost of living and develop all provinces in order to improve the livelihoods of the people of Zambia.
He said this when he launched the United Party for National Development (UPND) campaign for the 2026 General Elections.
The head of State also highlighted some of the government’s achievements aimed at improving the living standards of Zambians, among them free education, job creation in various sectors and debt restructuring.
He acknowledged that more still needs to be done to develop the country further highlighting the government’s strategy of increasing production in agriculture and mining.
“We shall continue working, so then we are saying 3 million tons of copper, one million tons of wheat, 1 billion tons of sugar and 1 billion dollars of beef export”, the President said.
Earlier, UPND Lusaka Provincial Chairman, Obvious Mwaliteta noted that President Hichilema restored peace and unity in the country, adding that he therefore deserves another chance in office in order to maintain the country’s stability.
UPND Copperbelt Provincial Chairman, Elisha Matambo echoed similar sentiments, noting that President Hichilema has, in his tenure, delivered unprecedented development in mining, health, education and many other sectors.
Mr Matambo recalled that roads in different parts of the Copperbelt were previously in a deplorable state, adding that this is no longer the case as the road network was worked on.
“Kitwe now has the first ever concrete road. The Province now has six state of the art Level one hospitals, improved water supply.
